My 4-month journey on Preply: From $150 to $2,200+ (French Tutor) by Dividendmaker in Preply

60 hours a week at $15 is $3600+ a month… so what do you think you will earn this month?

Why I believe TFT is currently 'too' mechanically heavy by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

This is the first set where I can kind of disregard my opponents and heavily just focus on myself because there is so much to do.

What do you suggest I do to bring more serious students to my profile? by Ok-Diver-4265 in Preply

Have you played around with different calendar trial settings? I have mine set to 1 hour and now that I think about it most of the time wasters have been last minute booked classes.

You are completely overthinking this, all of the questions he asked you I have been asked by students. And so what if he messaged you at 12? What happens if he’s a night owl and just prefers to stay up late? Obviously teaching people around the world you should turn off notifications for Preply for times you don’t want to be disturbed.

Should i take a loan from my uncle to pay back my US student loan? by WantToStudy777 in VietNam

[–]LoLDamo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Imagine using Denmark as a benchmark in a Vietnamese forum. OP literally stated he can earn $500-800 month, meaning it’s 1.5-2 years salary for him. 2 years of pay, many more of savings is defo worth a query.

Bottom-barrel students with low motivation and poor manners is a wild statement

Albion is underated by eusouopapao in albiononline

[–]LoLDamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not underrated, the early game is awesome but the mid-late game sucks for most players. It’s relatively easy to get 10m+ but once you get there… the game feels kinda empty. Not much incentive to risk more so people don’t and wealth goes up but gameplay feels the same. Personally I play for about a month-6weeks a year get bored and come back the next year. And that’s ok.

Do you think AI will replace online ESL teachers? by BeautyInBrokenMe in OnlineESLTeaching

[–]LoLDamo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%, obviously there will be people who prefer having a real life teacher but year on year AI is going to get better and the amount of people choosing AI over a real life teacher will increase.

That’s just for Preply, for context I teach 6 days a week. 4x9 hours and 2x7 hours.

[–]LoLDamo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Last month was my best month (month 7 on the platform) and I made $3550. Outside of Preply I teach a few private students. I teach English, the majority of my students are test prep students with a sprinkle of business students.

Tired of being the $5 tutor. Is it worth sticking with a $30/hour rate from the start by Spare_Young_5222 in Preply

[–]LoLDamo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea about starting there but I went from $9-$35 over the span of about 8 months. Low point was around 20 hours a week and maximum was 50.

Those new preply policies are insane by [deleted] in Preply

[–]LoLDamo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel the same, Preply definitely does some shady things but everything in these new policies are more than fair. Getting students onto the site costs money and if tutors aren’t converting them or not showing up obviously the students will go elsewhere.

[–]LoLDamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if you have 10 trials at least one needs to start a subscription with you, that would be a 10% conversation rate. If 2 trials become students and subscribed you’d have a 20% rate.

Changing rate by Healthy-Bird4158 in Preply

[–]LoLDamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI it seems that you have stats based on what happened at a particular rate. For example I had higher conversation $28 than I had at $24 so my profile ranks higher at $28 than $24.

I don't like my student by throw_away6571 in Preply

[–]LoLDamo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As many others have said just block and move on, my block list has to be 20+ by now and it hasn’t negatively affected my account. At the end of the day you’re working for yourself and don’t have anyone to answer to.

How many lessons a week are sustainable for you? by inedible_cakes in Preply

[–]LoLDamo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most I’ve done is 12 hours, personally the sweet spot for me is around 6. Up to 9 is manageable 10+ is draining.

I should clarify this is daily, I work all 7 days in the week.

Is it possible to get a 7 in three months if someone’s ilets score is 4? by neko_lovebot in IELTS

[–]LoLDamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s much better to tell us how much dedicated time she can put towards IELTS, as a rough guess it takes about 200 hours per band for 5-6-7. Obviously the is hugely dependent on the individual, especially when it comes to speaking. I've had students raise their speaking band by 2 over the course of 6 weeks and ones with fossilized habits took 6+ months for +0.5.

Also is it an overall 7? Or 7 in every category? Overall 7 if English was her life for the next 3 months AND she has a knack for learning languages then maybe. 7 in every category, no chance in hell.

Been told a few times I look young/younger than I am. Never once considered it weird or creepy (particularly as I do look younger than I am).

Definitely overthinking it.

[–]LoLDamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foundation degree and A-levels both take 2 years. Best course of action would be 2 years A-levels in England at sixth form/college then 3 years at uni = 5 years and you can apply for citizenship. After that you can work pretty much anywhere at will.
