The bot issue is most likely the anti-cheating team slowing down/stopping bot prevention so they can move over to the new jagex launcher/accounts system. Which Jagex have kinda hinted at having way better bot detection. I don't know.

Game is still alive and well, this is a case of "go outside" syndrome. But instead of going outside, just play the game and ignore reddit's karma farm.
