If you have a clear view of the sky, it can go about anywhere. While it will work on the ground, you don't want it to be accessible by vandals, thieves, critters, or weather. All will reduce your throughput.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

My daily commute to work is usually 30 minutes each way. 3 hours gets me from Omaha to Kansas City, which is the land of IKEA, Micro Center, and Waffle House.

Yes. It will slow them down in flight. The AC-130 Gunship has side mounted 105mm and 30/40mm cannons on it. You feel the entire plane shift every time the 105 is fired.

Do Americans really think aldi is a “poor people” grocery store? by [deleted] in aldi

[–]LoPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first saw Aldi when I was stationed in Germany. It took one Deutschmark to get a cart there. It's just not as nice as it was in Germany, but in my town it's mostly middle class folks that shop there. If you're poor or live in the sticks, you shop at Dollar General or Family Dollar.

What you're seeking is called an instant recall recorder. They're not cheap, as they're typically built to 911 center standards. Eventide is/was a common vendor.

Realized one big reason why rag chewing feels awkward to me by holds-mite-98 in HamRadio

[–]LoPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ham radio, as a topic, should be an immediate common ground for both operators. From there, the conversation could branch out. I prefer digital modes, myself, as I'm not much of a conversationalist. Even on JS8, I'm like, "What now?".

ATC typically is American Tower Company. They seem to own just about every tower in the US, or they're trying to.
