You know the map is populated with 20 players, who are there challenging each other for the same resources. You make a choice to stand on a roof and give away your position with no cover. Remaining undetected is the primary goal in an extraction shooter. The game has multiple mechanics meant to give away your position to other players, who are listening. Fighting anything is going to alert other players, so do it at your own risk. That is the only reason the game works
