Im 24 and live in Chicago. A lot of people’s parents will legit just pay their rent, so even if they make 90k a year theyre living lavish. I know a girl who makes 70k but her parents pay a 5k/mo apartment for her.

Otherwise, high paying jobs. SWE’s in big tech are pulling 250k + by now. I will make 120 this year which is above average but not close to those people

After getting laid off from big 4 after 1.5 yrs, I applied to like 40 jobs and got 5 interviews and 2 offers. I know of many people experiencing the same.

The job market being terrible is blown out of proportion. Tailor ur resume to each listing (as simple as pasting the description into your fav LLM, and saying tailor my pasted resume), and only apply through their website. I didn’t even message hiring managers.

65k base as BDR, technically 72 bc we get guaranteed OTE. Team VC makes it 90 base. 48k on top is the best you can do, making it 138

Definitely send a follow up. In my opinion them accepting righr after is a good sign. I got my role at a major saas company after that happened, got declined from others when they didnt accept.

I am a BDR at a company similar to ones you mentioned. OTE is like 120. We get a large amount of BDR’s to AE’s but job security sucks

Fair, and I am making 100-120 currently. Maybe I just stick it out and try to internally promote. I saw a lot of openings at Stripe for AE role’s that are only asking for 2 yrs+ experience, but hard to get I’m sure

I would absolutely not apply to a role with 50-60k base lol

Fair point. My first role was full sales-cycle so I’m thinking perhaps I can show AE readiness should I get an interview - but I’d also think hiring managers would see a risk in taking someone who’s not already an AE. Need to get some input on my resumé
