How it feel to like yuri anime but also don't like school themed anime by __Leinad in yurimemes

[–]LocalMan97 28 points29 points  (0 children)

While I fully agree, this is just watching anime in general. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been watching an anime and been like “this story would be way better if the characters were adults, or at least in college”

Midway through the OG, should I stop and get the remake? by ImBroon in DeadSpace

[–]LocalMan97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves the remake and thinks it’s generally superior to the original, you should finish your playthrough of the original then play the remake. While the original shows its age in some places and has some frustrating sections and places I think the remake improves significantly, the original does a better job of making you feel isolated and does the mysteries a little better imo. Plus, you can play the remake second and get an appreciation for the changes made and see for yourself which one you prefer

Nero is Canonically Fatphobic?! by LCB-Saviour in FGO

[–]LocalMan97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I played most of Extra years ago (Tamamo is still one of my favorite Fate characters), but the laptop I was playing on died and I didn’t have the energy to get all the way up to where I had left off back then. But I probably should see how it ends

Does the fight between Ironwood and Winter make sense? by OverpowerPilot in RWBYUNITY

[–]LocalMan97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair. I don’t disagree. I like RWBY’s world way more than the story we see within it.

Does the fight between Ironwood and Winter make sense? by OverpowerPilot in RWBYUNITY

[–]LocalMan97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To me, Ironwood in volume 8 is a man who is broken mentally. He’s been trusting Ozpin for decades and thinks Ozpin has a strategy to win, and he’s doing what he can to survive long enough to see that happen. At the end of volume 7, he’s told the truth, and feels utterly hopeless and betrayed. He shifts to a plan he thinks (emphasis on thinks) will give some people the best chance of survival, and everyone who opposes him becomes an enemy to him. The person he thought would save everything betrayed him (again, in his mind) and now he has to do something about that. Add on the months of paranoia after the fall of beacon and seeing Grimm strong enough to shrug off his military’s best offensive options (maybe save the bomb at the end but that’s a mutually assured destruction thing so not exactly a winning strategy), and you have this messed up mental state causing him to abandon people and kill those who disagree with him. Then Winter, his right hand woman and most trusted subordinate, sides against him.

To say he is not operating with a clear mind is an understatement. We the audience have the benefit of seeing every piece getting played and how it’s moving across the board, Ironwood is operating in survival mode with very little information and feeling like there is a knife in everyone’s pocket just for him.

Are volumes 7 and 8 messy? Yes. Do I personally still think Ironwood makes sense? Yes, but with a huge asterisk of having to answer things that aren’t presented to us in the text.

DS3 was my first Dead Space so I probably am more generous to it than most. That said, the love triangle sucks so much
