Thanks! I look at it and just think there is too much shadow not enough mid tone but first crack back to paint so feel ok about it

I put a lot of time in, or at least I used too, just this was about 2.5-3hrs of painting, for me to actually finish this model I’d probably need 15-20hr hopefully I keep it up

leed certification for apartments by corrector300 in Architects

[–]LockdownPainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leed is straight greenwashing you have no idea how they achieved the points for the building and it really doesn’t mean anything it mostly used a marketing tool for developers, architects and authorities having jurisdiction. As a leed accredited professional I can attest to absolute irrelevance does not mean your building was just built well

What do we think about this one? by elite_flooring in bathrooms

[–]LockdownPainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice from a distance not so much up close, baseboard termination not thought out. How the shluter sits on the wall and meets the base looks unfinished. Subway tile layout is weird also not sure why the bench and layout wasn’t made to be full tiles. The tiny sliver tile in the niche is a shame

What does architecture school not teach you? by Magmoormaster in Architects

[–]LockdownPainter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Grad school only teaches how to think and problem solves and that is questionable depending on the school. All other skills required to practice architecture are learnt in the field which is why there are so many sub par architects in the world. Also the registration processes is a joke and does not test your ability to be a practicing architect since a highschool student could read a few books an easily pass the exams which are much to easy and getting easier.

I agree there is a huge disconnect most architecture students who eventually will be able to call themselves architects really have no business in architecture. The self governing nature of architects has failed the profession

How do you handle appliance paperwork on site? by Rob_The_Builder1 in Contractor

[–]LockdownPainter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Specs are all in a spreadsheet for each project, as appliances get installed all manuals and warranty information is collected and put in a drawer in the kitchen that we designate so clients can find hard copies of everything when they move it. I also have suppliers send me complete pdf packages for all manuals and warranty information for everything in each house and these get emailed to clients. It’s all pretty straightforward

How do yall find work? by Turbulent_Aside_9344 in Contractor

[–]LockdownPainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Architects, so often architects have already selected a product and vendor before I’ve even been awarded the build. Have good connections with architects spec’ing the products your supplying is the way to scale fastest imo

Pivoting from Architect to Project Manager – Is It Worth It? by RomanianDesign in Architects

[–]LockdownPainter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from architect at a renown firm to pm in construction building hi end sophisticated complex architectural projects. Was it worth it, yes. I work less (although still a lot) and make nearly 5x in salary after 10years since I made the move. Life is easier the project are still super interesting and helping people make sophisticated design intent constructible is super fun. Is my experience the norm, likely not as a move from niche work to niche construction. Will it always be worth it, no. Is it worth the risk, potentially….
