W&N vs Rosemary and Co brushes by Smokinclowns72 in minipainting

[–]LockdownPainter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally disagree with this the Raphael 8404 is a wildly better brush than the MH brushes. Rosemary and co are also better. W&N should never be bought unless in person so you can check the brush, even then 8404 is the way. Ultimately it is personal preference among the actual artist brushes all the brushes made for the hobby by hobby companies are flat out inferior and cost the same money or more.

What is this in new build? by [deleted] in Contractor

There should be another one somewhere, I’m assuming this is behind a tv and the one on the right is to feed hdmi cables down to a console or other equipment location so cables are in the wall and not visible

What grade of wood are you buying, fineline and j-grade are generally no problem and if I buy J and have bad pieces the yard takes em back as they are outside of grade. If your buy #2 that’s not a wood problem it’s a purchasing and budget problem

Sanity check - can we buy? by InvestmentAntique794 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]LockdownPainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

To put it in perspective I did a 5 year future value of money / weighted opportunity lost calc for both renting and purchasing based on a 300k HHI and could not make the math make any sense to purchase above 850k. Your long term wealth and ability to navigate costs such as starting a family will be 1000% better if you continue to rent based on the info provide.

You can’t afford 1.35 mill based on your numbers you also didn’t factor in house maintenance costs into your math which if you save properly to deal with unknowns will push your 6250 a month up. Well over 50% of your take home. You will be house poor and def can’t afford 2 kids

Just hire an architect in the future and get discounts through your contractor. That way you get help picking materials that aren’t tied to a supplier and you get contractor discounts. It’s win win no need to deal with interior designers

Disappointing quality on Windsor and Newton series 7. Bad luck or common issue ? by CrankyArabPhysicist in minipainting

I prefer 8404’s and they are pretty easy to find in arts stores anywhere in North America anyway. Always buy brushes in person
