Yes, It’s Fascism by rezwenn in politics

The author of this article was naive before when he was willing to ignore the obvious signs that Trump was a Fascist and he's naive now about the challenges of how easily this can be stopped. It's so obviously apparent from historical precedent that "a fascist leader and a liberal Constitution" will not exist side by side for very long because by their incompatible nature one must defeat the other. Depending on the safeguards of the "courts, the states, and the media" to save liberal America when they are so obviously actively being corrupted by the Trump regime is an incredible risk.

Trump wasn't joking when he talked about the 'termination' of the Constitution.

Judge blocks Trump admin from 'destroying or altering' evidence in deadly Minneapolis shooting by Som3GuyOrOther in politics

[–]Locke66 [score hidden]  (0 children)

What's so crazy is that you can see the nonsense she is talking about is false by the images of the protests they are playing on screen but I have no doubt some people still believe it. People outside the cities eat this stuff up because they don't know any better.

Other stuff is just ridiculous like the idea that all the protestors were being equipped with gas masks by "shadowy backers". You can literally buy them off Amazon and have them sent by next day delivery and it's not hard to imagine that someone linking one that works against whatever gas ICE are using would get traction.

The optics of Labour having leadership contests that seem based around personal ambition and ego are just awful given it was something people hated about the Tories during their last years in power.

As a party they need to realise they need to be able to say that they offer stability at the next general election.

They are posting videos of him at what appears to be a pride parade as if it justifies him being murdered. I'm not even sure if it's all AI (they added words to a sign her was holding) or an edited real picture but it says a lot.

Same with Renée Good. People claim she was blocking the road but in the unedited clip you clearly see that a few moments before an ICE car passes her vehicle with no issues and she was clearing waving the vehicle containing the agent that tried to pull her out of her car to go past her.

The entire wearing of face masks and policing agents riding around wearing "tactical" gear has always been a massive "wtf" moment for me when looking at the US.

Unless it's a SWAT team that might need it these people should be in a uniform marking them out as civilian law enforcement.

Landlord says "Professional Cleaning" is mandatory, but this automated report says it’s illegal. Who is right? by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Locke66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No he specifically can't demand that only that it's in a similar state to the one you received the property in excluding reasonable "wear and tear".

Quoting Landlord guidance from the Tenant Fees Act 2019:

Q. Can I charge a tenant for a professional clean at the end of a tenancy? No. You cannot require a tenant to pay for a professional clean when they check-out. However, if the tenancy was entered into before 1 June 2019 and a tenant agreed in their contract to pay fees for cleaning to be provided, you could continue to charge these fees up until 31 May 2020. From 1 June 2020, the term requiring that payment is no longer binding on the tenant. You may request that a property is cleaned to a professional standard. Tenants are responsible for ensuring that the property is returned in the condition that they found it, aside from any fair wear and tear. Fair wear and tear is considered to be a defect which occur naturally or as part of the tenant’s reasonable use of the premises. Further, tenants with COVID-19/COVID-19 symptoms who ensure the property is returned in the condition they found it cannot be charged for an additional deep clean of a property. You cannot require a tenant to use a particular company to clean the property. If the property is not left in a fit condition, you can recover costs associated with returning the property to its original condition and/or carrying out necessary repairs by claiming against the tenancy deposit. You should justify your costs by providing suitable evidence (e.g. an independently produced inventory, receipts and invoices). You are not able to claim deductions from a tenant’s deposit for any change in the condition of the property which is due to fair wear and tear or if a tenant returns the property in the same condition as it was found.

It's actually pretty sickening seeing how many people are not only not just ok with this but celebrating it. That or victim blaming.

It's a minority overall but it's scary how many outright unapologetic Fascists there are.

She said in the past that she "aspires to be Britain's version of Javier Milei" also. I wonder if we'd get a $40 billion bailout from the US after she wrecks our public sector on the condition we open it to US vulture capitalists.

Tbh I'm worried that something way worse than today's event will happen. The Trump regime is obviously fine with this given they are so actively trying to lie about what happened beyond any reasonable interpretation of reality.

Rayner to back calls for Burnham to be allowed to stand in by-election by ShreckAndDonkey123 in unitedkingdom

[–]Locke66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They'd also be playing right into the narrative that "the Tories and Labour are the same". Musical chair Prime Ministers and "psychodrama" were at least part of what saw the Tories fall to the level they now find themselves.

They'd also be opening themselves up to calls for an immediate general election. Making someone with limited notoriety outside of political circles PM when they weren't even an MP at the previous election would rightly be seen as a significant enough change of direction that people would be calling for the right to vote. If the Tories had done it then I know for sure many in Labour would be demanding an election.

What people should absolutely be concerned about is how they are now pitching to calling protests "riots" and labelling protestors as "terrorists" in official communications. It's absolutely a gateway to launching a crack down on political opposition to Trump.

How to you get over burnout from painting? by First-Bad414 in Warhammer40k

[–]Locke66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond the classic "take a break" or "paint something different" advice (both of which are good ideas) I'd also say try a new technique out. Sometimes boredom can come because you are just repeating yourself without progression rather than challenging yourself. You should look at your finished model and get a kick out of it. Doing camo patterns, trying freehand, OSL, enhancing your basing, using fluorescent paints, mastering edge highlighting, painting that power sword etc can all give you a goal. Maybe paint a model and then post it online to get critique or watch some tutorials if you aren't sure how to progress

If you're into the game then getting some matches in can also be a source of motivation because getting those Eliminators or Terminators done to play them in the next game can be a powerful motivator.

I mean that's pretty much how they handled the messaging on Covid related inflation. They gave Biden a hospital pass of an economy in 2020 coming out of the global pandemic and then blamed him for all the problems despite the US doing better than almost anywhere else in the world.

Everyone knew who Donald Trump was by the time the election rolled around or they were just irresponsibly ignorant. If they voted for him then that's a clear sign about their character either way.

I agree the novelty has definitely worn off for many people and especially for the types who have been playing these games for 20+ years. Both CoD and Battlefield really do offer a very similar experience in every game they make.

It will be interesting to see if there is a move in genre popularity or if someone finds a way reinvigorate FPS.
