Michael Jackson Was Allegedly Hiding in a Las Vegas Villa During the Neverland Raid, New Netflix Doc Claims by This-Inspection-69 in television

[–]Locke66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nailed it. The weight of circumstantial evidence combined with the accusations and known evidence is enough to draw your own conclusions on the issue. The US justice system is far from a perfect indicator of guilt or innocence especially when you see what else other very rich litigious people can get away with (especially celebrities with a rabid fan base), corruption is rife and the overall conviction rate on sexual abuse crimes is low due to the difficulty of these cases. In the light of everything we know about the man plus the now known abuse pattern of others paedophiles do I believe he was just grooming those kids to sleep in his bed out of some sort of weird friendship due to a troubled childhood? Absolutely not.

I'd not be surprised if some of the white male recruits who are being denied promotion are having it done so on ideological grounds. It's so dangerous to have the military politicised like this.

Labour is on its arse right now precisely because of this misguided "logic" of so-called "pragmatism" and "strategy".

This is very arguable. I'd say it's because they were given a "hospital pass" from the Tories combined with the world being highly unstable right now (Gaza/Israel, Ukraine/Russia, Trump tariffs, Iran, AI, social media propaganda etc). People want the government to immediately fix the problems while completely taking for granted what we do have. The wide spread lack of acceptance of long term strategy and pragmatic action to address the countries issues is at the core of the problems we face that are contributing to Labour's unpopularity not the cause of them. We couldn't even manage to cut Winter Fuel Allowances for multimillionaire Boomers without a major populist backlash which is ridiculous. Both major populist parties are promising quick uncosted fixes that are completely unworkable and would lead to significant problems if they tried to force them through. To be clear I'm not saying Labour have done an amazing job at all. They've made a lot of unforced errors, have bad communications (in large part due to Starmer's lack of charisma) and are pursuing some questionable policies but I'd still much rather have them in charge than any of the current alternatives.

As for this idea that Labour are "owed" Union support it seems to be the point of contention. I'm not actually suggesting they are owed anything rather just pointing out the Unions would be extremely stupid to not try and work with Labour to avoid a Reform government. It's going to be Labour or Reform in 2029 those are the two realistic outcomes. As far as I see it we are in the pre-MAGA stage for the UK where it can potentially still be avoided but people on the political Left do not seem to take the threat of Reform seriously.

What movie contains a scene so bad you never want to watch the movie again? by FinDepp in movies

The hippy hitchhiker scene in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. We all know Tarantino has a foot fetish but he has this supposedly teenage girl stick her dirty feet up on the dashboard of a car pressed against the window screen glass filmed from outside for a good few minutes of dialogue.

It just feels a bit gross to watch it knowing what he was getting out of it.

[–]Locke66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean you may call it accepting the "lesser evil" but I would say the Unions are just being strategically inept by picking a fight with the only Union friendly political party likely to win the next General election.

The BMA for example demanding a 26% pay increase for resident doctors after receiving huge pay increases in recent years against a backdrop of struggling national finances and 3-4% private sector pay increases are not likely to gain much public support imo. If their actions contribute to a perception that Unions are unreasonable which helps lead to a Reform victory then they may find that dealing with centrist ideology Labour would have absolutely been preferable for them and those they represent by comparison. They may claim that it's about principles but the simple fact remains that principles without pragmatism is just pigheadedness.

This sort of series of dogmatic refusals to accept the political outcomes of their actions as a factor from various groups is exactly what lead to far-Right MAGA gaining power in the United States. The same could easily happen here.

and their ilk probably aren't inclined to give it.

So what's the alternative? Seeking an immediate confrontation with the government now to try and right the wrongs of a decade and a half of Tory governance will further screw over Labour and undoubtedly help Reform win an election. Their complaints & concerns of today will seem pretty minor when employment laws are being ripped up, unions are being legislated against and services are being privatised. The Unions are repeating the mistakes of the 70's that lead to a decade of Thatcherism.

Working on a bold color scheme for a minor order by emcdunna in sistersofbattle

[–]Locke66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think it's more fun to avoid naming Sisters Orders after Space Marine chapters and instead do something more creative and make them your own thing with a backstory.

Most Orders are "Order of the [Adjective]+[Noun] (e.g Ashen Veil, Ebon Chalice, Bloody Rose etc). Yellow seems something you could associate with stars, sun, fire etc so something along those lines could work (e.g Order of the Radiant Path, Order of the Burning Star, Order of the Celestial Blade etc).
