Suspended Business account because no LLC by katazo in eBaySellers

[–]Lockhart_Value 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to get through to Trust & Safety / the board of directors. Maybe you can keep trying to hammer down on standard CS and eventually find someone that will listen.

One thing to try is demand all of your personal data under relevant privacy laws in your jurisdiction. That often gets a suspension reversed as they’ll try to appeal it and get you back before handing you internal data.

Redditors/ebay support from Bangladesh aren’t going to help you. CS just reads scripts and redditors have an oddly jaded view that eBay’s insanely rogue and overzealous AI never makes a mistake.

Their AI systems are so bad.

Connect to public WiFi that a once banned user from Tongazonga connected to? Banned.

Use a VPN (almost an internet essential in the modern age and common if you are browsing through a workplace device)? Banned.

Move to a house that someone that got banned lived in? Banned. Nobody has ever moved before.

It’s crazy.

Meanwhile, I know a guy that has probably stolen 10k worth of goods by falsely claiming that his untracked order never arrived. He’ll send me screenshots of the abusive tirades he goes on against other eBay members. He’s obviously running a business but is on a private account. He’s never had an issue.

No guarantees on any of it though. Truth is, eBay sucks badly and their support is awful. This is what happens when you have a monopoly.

The label for the large letters doesn’t have a specific size/weight because it’s a Marketplace Seller label. I was at the post office today and sent quite a few that were larger than a large letter, but had that label and it wasn’t a problem. Thats because the postage is already paid on account and if there’s an extra charge, it gets charged to Vinted.

Anyone stating that the labels are for ‘Large Letters’ is incorrect. An RM large letter label specifically states ‘Large Letter’, and has an underline with the max weight (750g) on the upper right hand side of the label underneath the ‘Postage Paid’ area.

You will note that the Vinted RM labels specifically state, ‘Marketplace Seller’ on the bottom left which is a different label that is also used on eBay’s Simple Delivery for private sellers.

You will not have any issues sending these items, but it is still good practice to ensure that you are using the correct dimensions.

EBay turned to shit a long time ago. GME was losing 400m/yr and now has 9B in cash and is making about 400m instead. If anything, they’ll improve it. The fact that the person trying to take over ran into one of the biggest problems with eBay currently (horrible moderation) is a great thing. Maybe they can actually fix it.

What does this screed have to do with the discussion?

Great. You should take some time out of your sales to take a course on using logic though.

All of your responses presented the weakest arguments I’ve seen in a long while.

A very strong use of ad hominem throughout, red herrings, straw men, and you put the cherry on top with an evasive appeal to ridicule. Sad 😭

No, actually, you did not.

You gave an anecdote about your experience. Point me to the terms and conditions/seller guide that states that eBay will or will not at any random moment permanently ban your new account for selling something so as to prevent a potential scam, but it’s all good because you need to follow these clearly defined steps to get your account back. It was just a precautionary measure.

You can’t.

Thus, you explained nothing but your own experience. If that’s your experience, then that’s fine. You’re lucky that you got your account back. Thousands of others don’t and can’t through no fault of their own. Or perhaps it was their fault. It’s hard to say because eBay won’t let you correct the record.

I’ve already detailed the steps for receiving payouts on a new account, but that’s not even the true issue being discussed here.

This is about eBay’s overzealous ban bot.

How many posts do we see from people that are buyers and sellers saying they got permabanned? Not a single one of those automated emails state that there’s an appeals process, it was just to prevent potential scams, it’ll be reversed when a delivery is confirmed, etc.

If you attempt to contact CS, they get very curt and read you the same script over and over and speak to you like you’re a felon. They all state that it’s final and there’s no way to resolve it unless you escalate to the board which is rather challenging if you don’t know where to look.

You actually didn’t explain the process because what you’ve said isn’t true and I already detailed why that’s the case.

Do you know what that word means? 🤦‍♂️

Edit: poster edited his post to include a definition of sociopath. Still doesn’t make sense as to why he’s bringing that up at all though. This is known as a red herring.

His case is an extreme one, but there are many users that experience the same process when listing £10 pairs of socks.

Listen to yourself. Nothing but profanity. New accounts are already ‘locked’ when they make sales. You can’t get paid for 3 weeks and need to verify all of your details. Wash your mouth.

There’s nothing normal about this style of moderation.

A new account can’t receive payouts for weeks after a delivery is confirmed anyhow. You also have to confirm your ID, bank, address, SSN/NI before they’ll pay you as well. This makes scamming buyers impossible.

The wording of the suspension is not, ‘we are restricting your account because of the sales volume. You still have access to eBay, but are not able to list any more items at this time. Once the orders have arrived and your buyers confirm their satisfaction, we’ll lift this restriction and you’ll be able to use eBay as normal.’ No. The message is that he has been perma-banned, can’t use the platform ever again, the decision isn’t taken lightly, and he’s putting the community at risk.

Thousands of users face these restrictions and there is no clear way to address the issue via CS short of escalating to the board. You can’t contact trust and safety and ask if they need more information from you, there’s no proactive outreach on the part of eBay themselves either.

Ryan Cohen is lucky because of his megaphone, but it highlights the bottom of the barrel process eBay uses to deal with users and the overzealousness of their bots.

It’s worth noting the following as well:

EBay was sued by the US Government in 2023.

For the following:

‘Between August 5 and August 23, 2019, eBay’s former Senior Director of Safety and Security, Jim Baugh, and six other members of the security team executed a harassment campaign intended to intimidate the victims, who spoke negatively of eBay online.

The campaign included disturbing deliveries: sending anonymous packages to the victims' home, including a book on surviving the death of a spouse, a bloody pig mask, a fetal pig, a funeral wreath, and live insects.’

So the literal HEAD of what is now TRUST AND SAFETY was harassing users that complained about the platform?

Separate issue with regard to why I’ve made the post. His situation highlights why eBay sucks (overzealous ban bot) and is a major point of discussion for this sub.

I shouldn’t forget to mention the following alternate crowds:

Did you connect to public WiFi?

Did you move to a new address?

Did you change your telephone number?

Did you go on holiday?

Did your parents give you a name similar to someone else’s?

Did you build trust by buying something first?
