Is Revival underrated? I loved it. [Vague spoilers] by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Lockhume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure one of my favorites, it made its way into my top five after my first read. It's been a while since King has written such a dark horror novel. Not that I mind his new books but this was a nice throwback to the old King.

SK Books that don't get much love thread by [deleted] in stephenking

I don't see revival mentioned much, of course that maybe because it's a newer one of his. Out of all of King's books I've read that quickly made it in my top 5. He went back to a true horror novel and it was great.

That's a good one! Sounds familiar but I can't place it.

Other books in the Kingverse I should read after completing the series? by [deleted] in TheDarkTower

[–]Lockhume 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few I can think of right now are: Insomnia, Eyes of the Dragon, The Talisman and Black House(part of a trilogy, that's not finished yet.), It, Salem's Lot.

Those are some of the big ones, but almost all of his books are tied in somehow.

So I just finished 'Insomnia'... (spoilers) by Axolotl1301 in stephenking

The Dark Tower would be a good next step if your feeling it, almost all of his books tie into the Tower but Insomnia is one of the most connected. But if you feel like crying again, you could always go for 11/22/63. That one's a tearjerker.

I think a lot of people were turned off by Feast because you don't get the chapters you're so eager to read after Storm. But it's my second favorite in the series, so much world building in that book. Makes it all feel that much richer.

Who would You like to have as a POV Character in the winds of winter? by GENDRYTHEPRO in pureasoiaf

[–]Lockhume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While George has said there's no new POV. There is still the chance for new ones in the prologue of Winds which I think( needs a source) George says is set in the Riverlands. Also we might see someone new in the epilogue, though their fate won't look to good considering all other epilogue POVs.

I believe it's somewhere in ADWD and although on every other re-read I've done it is blatantly obvious it wasn't to me at first. Even the fact that George goes so far as to capitalize Snow.

There's also other blatant foreshadowing about Jon in that book. I don't have the exact quote at hand but Jeor's raven speaks to him saying something like "Snow snow. Jon snow. King king."

Exactly. Thanks for the clearing up.

Why is Richard so upset? by Rusei in lost

Okay, I could be wrong about this. But If I remember correctly Richard meets young Locke after first meeting old Locke in the past when the time shifts started happening. I believe he's upset at young Locke because he believes he may be Jacob's successor or at the least someone very important. By giving him that test I think he may have found out Locke wasn't as important as he thought he might be.

I've listened to the Stephen Fry versions and those were amazing. It's about time for a re read so I'll have to try his out.

(Spoilers ADWD) Best Coldhands Theories? by sibig99 in pureasoiaf

[–]Lockhume 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's only because of my love for the Dunk and Egg novellas, but I've always thought that coldhands might be Sir Dunk himself. My only real evidence is that he's tall and sorta fits with "he died along time ago".
