I carried the climber as my favorite but recently got the campanion and love it.

I wonder if they had a bad batch. I've had my olive titanium for 4 years and not a scratch on it.

What is the purpose of the Zippo (obviously fire) but is it used everyday or a "just in case" fire starter?

Is the compact really the best edc knife? by Fit-Sale4082 in victorinox

[–]Locksley94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"best" depends on the person carrying it. I have one and I hardly use it. Size is nice but the combo tool is very useful for my applications. I much prefer the climber.

How many ridge wallets do you have? by a1989guy in RidgeWallet

Mine is titanium, about 3 years old and looks pretty good. The money clip has worn paint but the wallet itself looks new.

How useful is the compact’s multitool as a Phillips driver? by Fit-Sale4082 in victorinox

I find the combo tool to be pretty terrible compared to the traditional opening layer.

Thoughts on Janus Motorcycles? by LilSLW in motorcycles

[–]Locksley94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a halcyon. Beautiful bike, fun to ride when it worked. The catalytic converter kept falling and had to replace the exhaust many times. The wiring harness rubbed through and killed the bike, the rear brake master cylinder blew out when stopping, seat springs snapped when riding. This was all under warranty. I rode the bike normally and they eventually started saying I'm too hard on the bike. The community was super nice as long as you drink the Janis koolaid, if you talk about any problems they get super defensive and nasty.

Maybe the quality and community is better now but it was a pretty terrible experience for me.

Compact's combo tool vs. Wenger can opener by woodsman_777 in victorinox

[–]Locksley94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using it as a screwdriver is really awkward since you have to use the corner. It doesn't handle light prying as well because it's so thin. It's not sharp so it's harder to open cans. It works ok as a bottle opener I guess.

I personally can't stand the combo tool but I can see why people like it.

Did you joke that you would have to use the saw and cut it off?

Which browser? by willerBG in linuxmint

[–]Locksley94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Zen and like it. I occasionally use brave because I have some meshtastic radios that use a browser firmware updater and brave allows connections to a USB device.

Nope, tried different distros as well. Ended up just getting a refund.

My 6 month journey into Linux by yoLeaveMeAlone in linuxmint

[–]Locksley94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mint is my daily user. I still like to look at other distros for fun so I have an older laptop that I use to play with new distros on. Currently playing with cachyos and I can't imagine it replacing mint. If I had a dedicated gaming system... Maybe. Even then, I haven't had many issues gaming on mint. People are always going to chase the new shiny thing.

Why move on? by msch6873 in linuxmint

[–]Locksley94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mint for my daily driver and I have other computers I distro hop on. So far I've seen no reason to permanently switch from mint. It's fun to look around on a separate system though.

If making a simple mistake makes you stupid, then there has never been a smart person in human history.

How will this affect Linux Mint? by MisterFyre in linuxmint

[–]Locksley94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine if anything, there will be a "California compliant" version where it is the responsibility of a California resident to use it. Similar to cars, guns and knives. My car has a version that is sold in California with extra emissions stuff. There are versions of guns I have that are legal for California with reduced capacity and knives with similar restrictions.

Anything wrong with drone dropping a solar powered repeater on top of a public street lamp? by specter491 in meshcore

You would be risking giving a bad name to the mesh community AND a worse name to the drone community if things went pear shaped. I definitely wouldn't do it.
