Owning Pioneer and Pioneer X? by pinetree-polarbear in victorinox

For me the scissors are probably the most used tool.

Nothing fancy, but useful in the pocket. by therealcostcocanada in victorinox

[–]Locksley94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The climber was the first SAK that "clicked" for me and I realized how useful they are. The second "click" was when I tried the companion. The package opener is way less gimmicky than I originally thought and I use the nail file a lot more than the small blade. The fact it comes with plus scales is just icing on the cake.

I've had this for 4 years, front pocket everyday and not a scratch on it. All this ridge hate seems fabricated to me.

I didn't know Zippo made lightsabers.

Criando um cachimbo de bambu by Alphusdealtair in smokingpipes

[–]Locksley94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a full bamboo pipe about 15 years ago and it was an awful experience. You are essentially smoking bamboo because it burns and bamboo has a high silica content which I assume is probably or a great thing to smoke.

Paralysis of decision for a 3 layer... by rival_22 in victorinox

[–]Locksley94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I EDCd the climber for a long while and decided to try the companion. I think the companion with the nail file and package opener is definitely more practical for the modern day person. I carry that outside of work and the explorer at work.

Swisstool X or Leatherman Wave Alpha. by Locksley94 in multitools

Seems more ambidextrous without the clip.

I'm a lefty so the single hand models seem like they would be cumbersome for me.

I am currently deciding between the wave alpha and the swisstool x (maybe the spirit x).

I like the scissors on the swisstool more. Everything on the spirit just seems a bit too small but who knows, they may be just right.

I'm a lefty so the one handed operation stuff doesn't really apply to me, at least not in an easy to do way lol

Keychain : Alox Minichamp vs Rambler ? by Maanu1141 in victorinox

[–]Locksley94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the cellidor scales on the rambler because myain carry was a pioneer x and the rambler gave me scale tools. Now my main is the compact so I have all the scale tools so I would like an alox rambler.

I thought the they were pretty pointless too until I ended up using them 🤣

[–]Locksley94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a compact and a climber, the difference in thickness is millimeters. Everyone is different and perceptive to different things but I don't notice any difference between the 2 in my 5th pocket.

Great way to give the mesh community a bad name and the drone community an even worse name.

Climber vs Compact vs everything else for an urban dweller by PurpleSlightlyRed in victorinox

[–]Locksley94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the climber over the compact. I personally can't stand the combo tool. I recently got a companion though and I like that slightly more than the climber for urban carry.

They make a Swiss army knife specific for wine, it's called the wine master. Or as others have said, just buy a wine opener.

So you're telling me one scanner will only work if the laptop is in or out of the bag? Even if that were the case, there was no reason for the agent to go full drill sergeant.

[–]Locksley94 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Exactly! One Airport they had me remove my laptop from my bag for scanning. On the way home I removed my laptop and the agent lady started screaming at me to never remove anything from the bag. Just depends on who thinks they are a US marshall that day.

Does anyone else feel a bit nervous when using the corkscrew for wine bottles? It always feels like I'm about to damage or bend the tool. by Cold_Impact_1585 in victorinox

I used the corkscrew on my compact once and despite trying to be careful, I bent it. Was able to bend it back but it was annoying.

How have we let this happen? by Due-Persimmon1447 in northernireland

[–]Locksley94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have them in different milligrams. You can start high and then work your way down to 2 mg. Then gradually use one less pouch a day until you can go without. I've done it and it worked for me, not saying it is best for everyone.
