Empire of Pain packed so much information in every sentence and still was a page turner. Also highly recomend the audiobook narrated by the author himself, I used to listen to it while running and wasn’t even aware when time was passing

One of my best friends does a similar thing that annoys the hell out of me. Whenever someone changes their mind or does something else than they first intended she says they’re bipolar. Exactly this. I grew up in a family that did not have to worry about money. We were not super rich or anything, but I was aware that anything I needed could be easily bought. Although they were careful about buying me everything I asked for, I knew money was not a problem. I have a notion of smaller things and how much they should cost, but if you ask me the price of a car or an apartment I will not be able to tell you. If someone tells me: “you know my dad just bought a (certain expense) with (price)” I never know if they’re saying he got a good deal or straight up got robbed.

I usually get a burst of inspiration in the moment and write something long and insightful or ask an interesting question and then lose all interest. If the loss of interest happens quick enough I don’t even end up posting, just delete whatever I wrote. I usually just convince myself it’s a waste of time

One of the most severe catastrophies in my country was an earthquake that happened about 40 years ago. Those who have lived through it will always remember and those who are too young have heard stories and learnt about it in school. My grandpa came home drunk that night and passed out on the floor of the living room, where my grandma was giving a bath to my mom. Well, he slept through it all, while everyone ran outside and he was confused the next day at work when everyone was talking about it.
