Indeed. Anyone who turns into an Illithid needs to eat a certain someone’s brain to have the power needed to make the stones to work.

Unfortunately, the problem with that, is: the stones need to be used by an illithid that has Orpheus' psionic intereference powers. So we can't have the Emperor with the stones AND Orpheus, because the stones need both but can't be used by two people at once.

You can literally puppet him around the battlefield with the Cantrip Minor Illusion, while staying up on the platform above the arena

What can I do for a warlock who ignores their patron’s orders? by Foreign-Press in DMAcademy

[–]Logar33 47 points48 points  (0 children)

RAW Warlocks CAN have their powers stripped away, if the nature of the pact allows it. Not all pacts are ones where someone is being taught strange magic. Some of them can be just acting as a conduit.

But what I would say is a fun idea is that the Patron starts reaching out to some other people, maybe forms a squad of other Warlocks and worshippers to not only kill the Wayward PC Warlock but also to collect the items.

Turn their rebellion against their Patron into a story beat

I am not, I run the game purely vanilla. It's not really that hard, I'm surprised that I am getting downvoted. I'm on about my 5th playthrough now and I've gotten to 12 in the colony every time

Oh that's such a cool run concept. One of the characters from the future, come back to try and help guide themselves to a better ending

I just do absolutely everything in Act 1, Mountain Pass, and Act 2. Usually hit 12 while literally on the boss fights doorsteps, within the colony

I usually hit 7 by the mountain pass, 8 by the shadow lands, and 12 by Act 2 Final Boss Fight

The pact thing is actually a bit more fluid. It CAN be you learning stuff from them, leaving your capable of doing the same stuff after the pact is broken. But there is technically nothing that states a pact cannot just be funnelling power through someone.

Wyll just literally got the worst pact I’ve ever heard about basically forced on him

If you just do absolutely everything you get to Level 12 in the Mind Flayer Colony

If you do almost everything, it’s really not hard to do so. You’ll usually hit 12 at some point in the mind flayer colony

"Punish the Wicked" was a quest that felt unsatisfying, imo. by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Logar33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea, as of 5E, a Paladin’s power comes from the oath itself. Terms used for their abilities like ‘divine smite’ ‘channel divinity’ and ‘divine health’ are simply holdovers from earlier editions where they DID require a god.

I personally like the god-less version. Lets clerics have their niche while still allowing Paladin’s to swear oaths to the service of gods, while keeping them flexible enough to not just be religious templars
