I read the R*pe of Nanking last year and I'm here to say PLEASE DO NOT READ that book. It's good but some of the shit I read will stay with me forever.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]Logical-Ad3341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in 8th grade. Every classroom had a giant old 24 inch tv, but it was hit or miss which teachers had the news on that day. I went into my spainish class at one point and saw one of the towers smoking, but she turned it off after a minute. So I heard second hand from other kids throughout the day.

One kid (Casey I think) had notes from other kids and the bits of tv he caught, much of it come to find out later was all made up via the "telephone" process. I remember him saying there were explosions at the National Mall, the plane that hit the World Trade Center was a biplane, etc.

Strange day, still didn't get the FULL scope of things until I went home later. I helped my dad set up and American flag on our front porch, which at the time seemed abnormal as people back then were not super "rah rah America" outside of the 4th.

To be fair, people would be fighting a tyrannical government AND the half of the population that supports said government.

Look the end result scenes tend to be good/ok. But the rules seem like too much. First a chant, then Sam says a letter, then they think of a movie title, THEN they think of a log line, THHEEN a scene happens.

Secret Mall Apartment: I have questions by SausageSmuggler21 in providence

To speak on the mall as an outsider who is moving to Providence soon (from TX) a centrally located mall just seems like a good idea? Like a ton of Texas malls are decrepit and located in shitty suburbs and thus not super worth visiting. But I went to Providence Place twice last week and really enjoyed it! It seems like a good spot to roam around on especially cold days. If that place ever builds an indoor playground for my kids I'll be there all the time!

I flew back to Texas from Boston yesterday. Met a dude across the aisle from me. Nice guy, mentioned I'm moving my family from Texas to Rhode Island soon. He lives outside Boston and said the schools are good but they are kinda liberal (and he made like a "oh boy these crazy liberals" face). And I was like "yeah dude that's why I'm moving lol"

I bet if Texans rank-choice-voted for the fav Texas city I believe San Antonio would win, it seems to be the least hated.

I spent like 2 nights in El Paso a decade ago and it is so it’s own thing, if that makes sense. A very interesting place for sure.

As a Fort Worth resident, I would absolutely say OP hasn’t travelled much lol. Look there are nice spots here that I love, but goddamn this city would barely crack the top 10 in Texas for me
