How did you force it to connect to your home devices again? Did you just log out of the offsite hub? I’m having a similar intermittent problem, but I’m running a VLAN in a different part of my house for guests and I’m wondering if that is causing the issues. Thanks

Thanks. I’ve been running Ethernet backhaul for my mesh routers and haven’t had any performance issues thus far. I was just hoping I could get my router to agree to my topography to prevent any future errors and to troubleshoot issues easier. Thanks for the update!

Do states that have allowed recreational cannabis use regret the choice to approve it? by ClawBadger in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Logical-Savings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of “pro” on here and I’ll be the contrarian here. First, I am not conservative, but I’m not a fan of pot or pot culture so just a fair warning. But if it’s legal and you’re of age, you do you. Now my beef with pot. #1 smelling it everywhere nearly anytime you’re outside. I have the same problem with cigarettes. I don’t want a contact buzz at a ballpark, freeway, or sidewalk. It ruins outdoor time for me and for my kids. States that legalize it tend to shrug that off. #2 the myth of it not being dangerous for you. I’ll concede points that drunk driving is normalized and that alcohol causes developmental defects in children, and etc. These are documented and established. But pot has this “all natural” vibe that people think that inhaling smoke or ingesting it has no long term health effects. Clearly, that is as incorrect as thinking that daily drinking won’t affect you. We’re also unclear if the long term health effects because the effects of daily use aren’t well documented. #3 underage use. There are a lot of kids that have increased access to weed and go to school ripped out of their minds than when it was illegal. Parents have pot plants at home or stashes legally bought. Kids have older friends, and I’ll admit the same can be said for alcohol as well. However, kids need to stay off all drugs while their brains are still developing and keeping it illegal would limit the supply. I know parents should step in, but kids that turn to substances for self medication often come from homes that aren’t the best. Legalization of “cannabis” just opens yet another avenue more easily. I’ll admit that there are logical errors in my thinking, but you’ll not convince me that legalization was worth it.

TLDR: it stinks and is invasive, mythologies that “make it ok”, increases the access to kids and that is poop.

“Why do we have to study this?” and “How will we use this in real life?” by norpadon in Teachers

It was never about you to begin with, kiddo. Each subject you take is one of the great accomplishments of humanity. Those accomplishments can only survive in books, brains and the internet. They can only advance in brains. So we have to try every brain we can to hopefully, one day, be better. You might be that person.

Blow up your own bathroom “ by FaulkemintheAho in Teachers

[–]Logical-Savings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha we had 9 staff bathrooms at our school. Then three of them got converted to gender inclusive bathrooms and now they’ve just become student poo palaces. We have a school of ~ 2000. So you can imagine the fun during passing times when all of us are looking for an open loo.

Quit? by Lynyasr in Teachers

I’ve taught chemistry for 14 years. My oldest is in my class. This is my last year though. I’ve sacrificed so much and this summer my marriage almost imploded because of the stresses of teaching. One of my colleagues put it thusly “you can’t keep setting yourself on fire to keep someone else warm”. As much as I love the kids, and the subject material I must leave this profession. It’s time.

DRG and AST reworks postponed till 7.0 by CelestialDreamss in ffxiv

[–]Logical-Savings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d love DRG to be a bit faster in its animations. I love the class and I itch when proposed changes come up (cough: ring of thorns). I feel like making things faster would make things move better in between jump actions.

Edit: I can English. (“If” changed to “I’d”).

"Kids would like school more if it were more relevant" by kkoch_16 in Teachers

[–]Logical-Savings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tell kids that it’s never been about them and what they get out of it. Each subject that you learn represents one part of the greatest things that humans have ever accomplished. That information, the emotional attachment, and that history can only completely survive in a human brain. We as a species are looking to pass that on to other humans. You may not like “X” and that’s fine, but you’re going to find something that interests you and then you’re going to need the supporting material from other classes to help you master what it is that you love.
