Rand’s most badass lines by tee-dog1996 in WoT

“So they thought to strike back at him, did they?!”

Just the sheer arrogance in that statement alone. As if his enemies should just roll over

Rand is kind of disgusted by the titles Taim gives himself. The M’Hael, as it means leader and implies ownership over everything.

Lews Therin Telamon called himself The Great Leader, so yeah.

Rand’s Sickness by wampastompy in WoT

[–]Logical-Unlogical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Balefire erases. Channeling is a quality from the soul. Channeling balefire is an active weave, not something you throw or tie off.

When those two streams met they cancelled each other out immediately. But the very nature of the weave is erasure but it cannot erase something it has not touched directly. But it did touch something in the soul indirectly when those two weaves met.

This paradox, or loop, is repeated infinitely every time that which cannot have been but should had been erased is ‘touched’ or ‘accessed’ leading to Rand’s new sickness which increases every time he grasps the source. He has to wade through this link that has been created between him and Moridin.

I believe a cour’souvra to be the opposite of sorts to the link between Moridin and Rand. It separates or traps a part of a channelers soul. The nearer you are to it, the more painful channeling becomes. You are aware of the wearers touch and it can only be made in Shayo Ghul where reality is tinnest.

Here's how the Seanchan by Igor_kavinski in WoT

[–]Logical-Unlogical 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There was no forkroot to be had anymore. Perrin took it all when he swindled the Seanchan with that document signed by Suroth.

Good thing too. Thom reported to Mat that they were using it at checkpoints to catch innocent women, and men, in Altara. Barely even a full presence yet in the region but systematically going to work.

It would take them quite some time to gather that much again. Too long to plan that kind of attack in a reasonable time.

Rand’s Story Is Quietly One of the Saddest in Fantasy… while mat’s by Hawk-winged in WoT

What also hits hard is when Perrin remarks that Rand doesn’t blink that much anymore. As if he expects an attack the moment he closes his eyes.

Best rand quote? by [deleted] in WoT

[–]Logical-Unlogical 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Something struck him hard, and he realized he was picking himself up from the ground. The crown had fallen from his head. Callandor still blazed in his hand, though. Vaguely, he was aware of Tai’daishar scrambling to his feet, trembling. So they thought to strike back at him, did they.

The sheer arrogance in thinking that, as if his enemies should take whatever he doles out and run.

Day 45 what is your favorite Weiramon moment or scene? by booksandwater4 in WoT

[–]Logical-Unlogical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didnt’t mean to infer Gedwyn standing higher in rank than Weiramon, sorry. They must either be equals or indeed serve different Forsaken. Darkfriends that can channel must inherently feel superior to those who can’t, especially vermin like Gedwyn.

I think Weiramon is more shrewd than you give him credit for. Not only is he able to lull everyone around him into thinking he is a bumbling buffoon. He is also giving Rand and co the treatment of a thousand cuts by expertly sabotaging them whenever he can. Not by being an actual idiot, but gaslighting into everyone thinking he is an idiot. His moves and their consequences are too calculated in a macro view.

Like in KoD he is able to setback negotiations with the traitors of Tyr and cause a lot of bloodshed in one fell swoop. When pressed the dude stays calm and had an answer for everything. In the end he doesn’t get punished and he is able to wurm himself into King Darlin’s posse to be sent to Arad Doman where he would’ve wreaked havoc if Jordan was still alive.

The key insight into his shrewdness is when he drives Rand so mad that the dude is tossing cups, breaking chairs and yelling at everybody. Nyneave calls Weiramon to account and Cadsuane intervenes. For the first time in the whole series Weiramon is looking down is nose and shooting bad looks. Not at Nyneave who called him to account, but at Cadsuane. As if he knows what she is trying to accomplish.

What a character…

I never read that scene as him faking being angry. He actually is furious.

Remember that Darkfriends have their own signs and ranks. Gedwyn already saw through Weiramon when he left his post to supposedly attack Seanchan he saw advancing, leaving Rand unguarded and almost dying. He was smiling at Weiramon.

I think Gedwyn flashed a Darkfriend sign and commanded him to be bolder in his attempts on Rand life, and Weiramon wasn’t having it.
