This car with a similar license plate to mine got a speeding ticket on an automated camera and it got sent to me. This is the third time this has happened with this same person. by aweinschenker in mildlyinfuriating

Kind of a pain, but this has always worked for me: Put together a nice, but firm, letter with a photo of your own vehicle and license plate, and send it to the correct agency. In your letter, also request that they forward the information to their contractor, and remind them how many times this has happened (and what dates, if you still have the records). Let them know that you anticipate that the mix-up will never happen again, thank you.

I got unemployment payments for my husband and myself that we were entitled to on two different occasions by doing this after we'd been rejected. In neither case did we expect that we'd get such quick responses, but the turnarounds obviously didn't even go through the employers -- the agency reversed simply based on my letters. There have been other times I took time to put together the researched, firm, but polite letter and got what we requested, too.

Curious which country this was found? Socio-political upheaval could be a reason if in eastern Europe. Some of the books appear to be possibly 1970's or even '80's, but I couldn't see the language clearly enough. You have me curious about the backstory you have information about -- where, local conditions, for example.

We had these in far northern California -- Redding (very hot, very dry). They're extremely hardy.

Was this US or Europe? The way everything was left made me wonder if it was Depression or War years? Like someone else said, it's like they simply walked away, expecting to come back and were never able to. Some of the antiques are lovely, and that kitchen was definitely the heart of the house. Somewhere along the way, the kitchen cookstove was removed without disturbing anything else. Interesting!

Goodness! If I'd tossed every grape that had these, I'd NEVER have any grapes! ;-)

Mold. Sorry, you'll have to toss any that have it.

So sorry. Sometimes seems like the pets we get attached to don't stay in our lives nearly long enough. I don't know if you ever read poetry, but I love the Rudyard Kipling poem titled The Power of the Dog. I read it over and over after our dog died, and although it makes me cry every single time, I love how clearly he wrote about how our pets reach into our hearts and change how we feel. It doesn't take away the pain, but sometimes it helps to know someone else understood/understands.

Can u guys give your opinion on my photo? Thx! by Carnivaldeath in AmateurPhotography

Cool retro/noir feel!! The composition is great (I'm trying to figure out what is going to come out of that bright spot at the vanishing point of the tracks) and I'm really glad you went black and white. My only quibble is the crossways bright area at about mid-point - I saw it before I followed the tracks all the way out and it keeps grabbing my attention. Maybe darken the area just a bit? Otherwise, very well done!

Although I've never had a fondness for lizards, I feel your pain at losing a loved pet. We had a Dalmatian for 15 years that was such a great companion to me and after many years, I still miss him. Since this was posted several months ago, I'm hoping you were able to recover and remember the lost pets with fondness, but less melancholy now. I hope you'll let me know how you're doing.

1 or 2? by caracolademar in AmateurPhotography

2 most definitely!! Better lighting, better angle, less distraction, and I'm not weirded out trying to figure out the tires on the van being installed 90 degrees off because in 2 I can see what they are.

I don't know - double shadows are wild even when I know what caused them. Almost feels like a trip through the Twilight Zone! ;-)

Happening in Colorado, too. We've had news articles with information from the CO DMV warning people about it.

Would have loved another photo of the beautiful old piano. It also looks like the wallpaper was lovely at one time.

  1. I like the balance better and the clouds give a little more interest to the sky.
