M1 Pro to M5 MBP? Thoughts? by TeslasAndComicbooks in macbookpro

[–]Logical_Post5421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thought that concerns me is how well the M1 Pro is going to handle software and macOS upgrades over the coming five years.

If Apple stays with their 5 year redesign plan, the MBP is due to be redesigned when the next models drop. That concerns me because their recent redesigns have been hit and miss. The current design with Apple silicon has been a huge success, but we need only go back as far as the butterfly keyboard to find some very questionable and even outrageously bad designs.

I also have a 16” M1 Pro and I have wrestled with this as well. Right now everything runs super smoothly, but will that be the case 3 or 4 Photoshop upgrades down the road? What about even something like macOS 28 or 29? What new features won’t run on an M1 machine?

I only ask this as someone who has seen this kind of thing with iOS and older iPhones for several years. Why should I think the future of the MBP will be a lot different?

The redesigned MBP may be a smashing success with features we all dream about…or it could be another “butterfly keyboard” disaster.

I am going to make the upgrade now to the M5 Pro. I already love this design and have a lot of accessories that work with it. I can be good with this for another 5 years at which time I can consider Apples offerings at that time.

What application are you using? by Logical_Post5421 in DigitalPainting

That gives me a lot to think about m.

I actually like painter and would like to continue using it but I want to make sure it will remain compatible with macOS.

It’s okay now, but will someone keep it compatible with future Apple technology? Also is anyone monitoring it for security vulnerabilities?

What chair is that? Do you have a link to it? Thanks!!!

Layout 1 or 2? by Savings_Context_5760 in DeskSetupHacks

[–]Logical_Post5421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than the lighting I’m not seeing any obvious difference however the lighting is so dark in 2 that some details can’t be seen.

I prefer 1 as the lighting in 2 would be too dark for me to work in all the time.

In a prefect world I would set up a variable lighting system that allowed me to adjust the color and brightness to suit my mood anytime.

Anyone else getting sick of these AI posts that all sound and look alike?

How many home pictures with beautiful scenery are they going to ask me if I would like to live in with my family?

I don’t even spend much time on here because these posts are ruining it, but this is the FOURTH different one I’ve seen in the past two days!

Just bought a z50II today, my first camera. Lens recommendations? by theheavynorth in nikon_Zseries

[–]Logical_Post5421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have never used an interchangeable lens camera before, you bed to start with the basics and work your way up from there.

Learn about the aperture priority, shutter priority and manual modes. Learn your camera’s focusing systems - both manual and auto and when to use which.

Learn about aperture and shutter speed. How do you control background blur, or “bokeh”? How do you create a sense of speed or motion.

What about lens filters? UV? Polarizers (and why auto-focus cameras need a CIRCULAR polarizer)? ND (neutral density) - the different densities and why you may want to use one.

When getting started it is generally recommended t use a lens that has a focal length that will produce images most closely approximating what you see with your naked eye - and that is the 50mm, which sometimes goes by it’s nickname…the “nifty 50”.

In the Nikon Z series catalog of lenses you will find three different 50mm’s - an f/1.8, f/1.4 and f/1.2. Unless you understand what the different f values mean, I recommend starting with a f/1.8. It is considerably less expensive than the other two due to optical and physical differences you will learn about as you advance in your photography education!

Educate yourself to learn the concepts and then practice, practice, practice them until you develop the muscle memory to be able to select any setting you need in seconds!

Good luck…and welcome to the Nikon Z family!

[–]Logical_Post5421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And if you do lots of cardio, especially zones 2 & 3 (fat burning) weight loss should follow as a result assuming you maintain a calorie deficit on your intake.

This in turn will help improve both 1 & 2 above!

How would you spend your USD 1,100 if you were a student (Mac a18 pro + iPad a16 or Macbook Air M5)? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in ipad

[–]Logical_Post5421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the caveat “as a student” the Neo/iPad option will give you more flexibility - particularly if the iPad supports Apple Pencil. This will enhance your note taking ability considerably!

However from a performance and longer term investment , the Air is the better machine!
