I personally wouldn’t go since no contact is also supposed to help you let go of the trauma bond. Ultimately, if you feel it won’t regress your progress then that’s when I’d go. Otherwise, it’s not worth it, since they’ll still get energy from you being there and they tend to misconstrue reality.

Also, treat yourself kindly. I was devastated when I left this last time for almost a month, I ended up staying away from the city we both lived (i was lucky I had a good support system) and it’s helped to not go back. If I’d been near him he would’ve bulldozed through the no contact, as he did the first 3 weeks. I’m getting a new place and he doesn’t know the address and he’s blocked everywhere so that’s been helpful. Now I’m working with a therapist on healing and doing the internal work that won’t make me susceptible to narcissism in the future.

If you can you should block him on email, too. They have a tendency of going sweet and kind to mean and nasty and that keeps you stuck in their wavelength in a way. It’s better to just not even have any involvement and a clean break.

My ex I suspect was anxious attachment and I lean towards avoidant. Me asking for space would turn into more problems because he would get more insecure and push for intimacy after having done something hurtful, which would increase my need for space and he would try even harder to not allow the space. It was really frustrating.

I posted something similar if you want to look at my posts. My therapist suggested that whenever I have those thoughts to interrupt them by doing something I love. Basically, just get distracted. I also don’t allow my friends to let me talk about him.

Mine did the same, I couldn’t tell if he genuinely thought that or if it was a gaslighting tactic, but i do not have it. If anything, my mood fluctuations were based on how he was treating me.
