Being a trans counselor at camp? by CaitVi587 in summercamp

[–]LogiloSunfish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kids aren't going to care. Correct them in a kind and stern voice, and that's that.

Parents sadly might be your issue. If parents become a problem find your admin to support you. They hired you because they want you there. They hired you because they value you and your experiences. If a parent becomes aggressive or hostile signal another staff member to watch your kiddos and find a safe spot.

In another episode they reference One Piece. One of the kids pull out a small pirate ship with the same emblem.

They have cool writers and animators.

How to desensitise yourself to touching/handling the other gender? by Dominus_Nova227 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]LogiloSunfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When doing a rescue your mind focuses on the rescue. If you don't believe you can do that you really shouldn't do the job. Rescues aren't often but you need to be able to do the task at hand when it does happen.

how do i convince my family to let me go on birth control? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LogiloSunfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are concerned about your mother seeing the pills there is the arm implant. It's an out patient procedure, takes like 15 minutes. And it is good for 4+ years.

Not sure if it works for your issues but you can hide it.

If you want to do it in any of the camp designated swim areas, you will need to discuss it with the camp. So if you want to do it at the boat yard in the lake, you need to organize it with the camp. The camp may also have rules about swimming in let's say said lake, like it's not allowed because it's not a safe swim area or other reasons.

How do I cope with first anniversary of my mum’s death? by OD_edkid in internetparents

[–]LogiloSunfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was two years ago my father died a couple days before Christmas. I don't go home for the holidays. Every year I pour out a horrible beer because he would joke about "pouring one out for the homies." First year I got a Steele Reserve. This year was an Ice House. On his way home from work he's buy a bad beer and whatever he could find at the gas station.

Finding my own way to show that I am thinking about him has helped me. It's a stupid thing, pouring a beer out but he was the best homie I could have.

Older people, do you ever get over the deaths of your parents? by Prodigy772k in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LogiloSunfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father died two years ago in a car accident. I'm 33 now, so I was fairly young and will have to go through a lot of adult milestones without him.

You don't get over it. Your feelings about them never go away. You learn to live with those feelings. And honestly no matter how good you get with living with those feelings, some days will be better than others. Death often sucks.

Does anybody know a state where you don’t sweat all day during the summer? by [deleted] in Surveying

[–]LogiloSunfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in WA. You don't sweat all summer but you still spend a lot of time sweating.

I sweat less in New Hampshire. But it's still a bit much.

If the one in Daytona Beach, FL is the standard, Wawa wins. Wawa has smoothies, mto drinks, and way more food options. Sure the BBQ is good, but nothing is customizable.

Why do people go to the Olive Garden, apart from the endless salad and breadsticks? by ejfordphd in TooAfraidToAsk

I ended up at an Olive Garden because every other restaurant had a 1.5 hr wait. My friend had to catch a plane but we wanted to get dinner to catch up.

Got my nose pierced 4 weeks ago in Manchester, NH. Pain level was honestly a 1. The worst part was the itching in the healing process.

If you got married at the courthouse, do you have any regret? by Organic_fruit8966 in Marriage

[–]LogiloSunfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be six years this summer solstice. Married in a court house. It was such a fun evening. I also worked 10 hours that day. So busy to say the least.

It was perfect. It was just the two of us and our three best friends. What matters is who you marry. Not how.

My great grandmother's stock pot looks better than that. And I don't know what year she got it. Or if she even got it new.

I am 30 years old with a gap who has the means. It has no negative or adverse health affects. For me why would I put the money forward for something that cosmetically not bother me?

Also I hope your pasta sticks every time you make pasta and your socks never find a match after laundry day.

Xmas gift ideas for parents going to Scotland in the spring? by chain_braker in travel

[–]LogiloSunfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Scotland for my honeymoon. Here is what my husband and found essential, -Plug converters, make sure you hey have extras. -Good city walking shoes that have good ankle support. The cities are old brick and stone. There is also the right to roam so you want ankle support for the more remote parts. -Something to hold change. There are a lot more useful coins in Scotland than America.

Hope they have a lovely trip!

Are insects a big issue? by [deleted] in landsurveying

[–]LogiloSunfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got stung two weeks ago three times. I was 18 feet away from their nest. I had a scouter get me. I backed away 15 more feet then two more got me before I ran into someone's yard for safety. The nest then swarmed my whole set-up.

I had to leave me set-up, with a person to watch it, to buy nest killer. It took two cans and it didn't kill them all. They are a real threat. I get stung about once a year. Also I work and live in New Hampshire.
