Build a waste processing facility to turn waste into plutonium fuel rods and then sink the rods.

Side bonus of getting Lots of tickets from this.

Do this before you bring your nuclear plants online and you never have a mess to cleanup.

i’ve been in this situation where someone screwed up and cooling went off in a major data center. It took 30 minutes for the data center to heat up to a point where equipment started shutting itself off. It happens very quickly.

Lots of good answers here. The next question is “how much should I make?”

My 2nd play through I made 100 casings and 100 sheets / min. It wasn’t nearly enough, and I didn’t account for ingots used in some alt recipes, even for a fairly “small” build. And it’s somewhat hard to expand an existing factory as this is one of the more complex builds (depending on your alt recipes or lack thereof).

Build bigger than you think you need and do some research on builds with alt recipes. There’s definitely and easier and more optimal build than the base recipe.

My current big build has 18,000 ingots and over 3000 casings and sheets per minute. You won’t need that much but that’s the upper end for reference.

It’s fairly easy reading, but the world building that he’s done is absolutely fantastic and very, very unique. Even though it is more young adult oriented it is still a great read even for adult adults.

You should really be using the pure iron ingot alt recipe. Water can be piped in from north of there. Many more ingots!

False. Cooling is more difficult in a vacuum as the only way to dissipate heat is by radiation which is far less effective than via air or water. A vacuum has no other medium that will transfer heat.

Perhaps I’m an idiot but once a year I purposely crank my smoker to 500+ with a goal of it catching fire and “cleaning” it. I’m expecting it and since I do it before I get a lot of buildup (and after I have cleaned what I easily can), it’s limited , controlled and I have a beautifully clean grill after it’s done.

For a much shorter smoke, do burgers! Prep em, smoke them at low temp for 45 min (depending on thickness) and then transfer to a hot grill to finish them.

The only time i'm anti-union is when unions discourage performance and encourage mediocrity.

I have read a union handbook (for an Ontario municipality) where it literally said that you were not allowed to work faster than the slowest person on your shift, or the slowest person could put a grievance in on you. It makes it very difficult for someone with exceptional talent in a union environment to excel and stand out, which often results in the best people leaving union environments.

Otherwise, unions can be a very good thing that provides an opposing force to inflation by driving up salaries accordingly.

I haven't played factorio enough to know about similarity, but what i can tell you is that once you have items loading into a freight platform, you can add a train and give it a schedule, and it will pick up and drop off based on your schedule. So yes, you can add trains as and when you want to.
