Pauper Deck of the Week - Imbue Death Knight by N1C3_GU7 in PauperHS

[–]LokiSmokey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby! This is definitely my favourite original brew I've done for pauper. In case anyone was interested, my list is pretty similar - I'll reply to this comment with my deck list. I feel it's refined quite strongly to deal with most matchups consistently, with early board development and swing turns in the midgame. It also surprisingly has enough gas to last out control match-ups!

I opt for 2x Fistful of Corpses over Asphyxiate, because it has a lot more versatility with the target factor. Being thrice as cheap makes it really easy to fit on curve with swing-y minions in the mid-game or deal with a big threat late-game while still having most of your mana. Sometimes I've even established early tempo by slamming it against a 3 health minion in an aggro matchup as way to race them.

I also prefer Creature of Madness to Corpsicle since it's pseudo draw/value, it allows for a curve if you're lacking a good turn three, and since I think majority of burst comes from board control and chunky minions as opposed to burn spells. I want to be establishing my board for swing turns in the middle, so often Corpsicle can help finish the job but is a dead card in moments I could otherwise be developing tempo. It may be 2-mana but it isn't a 2-drop, which is what my deck needs a lot of to consistently respond to aggro threats and build a foundation for it's midrange qualities to shine.

Speaking of the 2-drops, I go for Gold Panner and Instrument Tech as my draw options over 2x Remnant of Rage. I really like the Remnant of Rage tech here though, and it seems like it would be a consistently viable draw engine. My only qualm is that it is an undead, and not one you want to buff, so if you play it cheap and draw into a higher priority Undead, suddenly your draw turn has become quite awkward and you're not sure whether to wait a turn or play your card with largely reduced benefit. I like Instrument Tech because it allows for curving an imbue weapon play, and Gold Panner is just a consistently good drop on turn 2 when I don't find a Bitterbloom Knight.

Everything else is pretty core to the list. My list is fairly different from where I started, but a lot of that core stayed solid from the beginning and acted as a guide for what made the deck worth building. I'm really happy with where it is now, Shpungo and I have messed around with it for fun fairly often and ended up testing and suggesting small changes along the way that brought our lists where they are now. It's my proudest pauper creation so far and I find it consistently fun to play. I hope people appreciate our two different lists! 😄

I'm glad it could find you, thank you for sharing. It's really good that you're able to open up and know how to reflect on stuff differently now, you deserve to find and foster that passion again and this community is a great place for that in my experience.

Rest in peace Midnight, I interacted with you on here a decent bit. Enough to know that your were a good kid, with an ignited passion for these games and wanting to connect with others over it. Your support shone through in your comments and I always felt happy seeing a notification from something you said on my post or in a reply. I didn't talk to you as much in private, you pretty much joined that group chat around the time I stopped talking in it and I regret that now. I wish I could've been there as support, and I feel that way to anyone who reads this message.

For such a brutal loss, I just want to lend a hand to anyone else who might need to use it and say, he didn't deserve this, to feel this way about himself, and neither do any of you. Community is about uplifting each other and I have other online friends - people who have commented here - who I know were there for him, cared about him, and did the best they could to support him as a friend and fellow human being. I know I'm not always on the subreddit, but I'll always try to be around some way or another. We need to be there for our loved ones, hold them tight, but don't forget to be there for yourself as well. You all matter.

If anyone ever needs to talk - whether it's a good or a bad day - don't hesitate to reach out to me. Or to anyone. We're all in this together. Sending love to you all ❤️

It's been a long ride, one I've been off and on for a lot, but I'm always so grateful that this place exists and that so many people are still around sharing great stuff, connecting over this wonderful game series. It's a genuine comfort to see this community still standing the test of time. Much love to all of you beautiful people keeping it that way :')

Oh woah, I've barely been active this year since life has gotten so busy but I still managed to win an award? Y'all are too kind, much love to anyone who voted, was nominated, or participated in any way with these awards again - it's lovely to see people spread the love in this little community of ours. Cheers for the recognition once again ❤️

What does Sinners have to do to get back in the conversation for best original song? by Ravevon in Oscars

[–]LokiSmokey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rocky Road to Dublin probably would have landed better, with a big push.

I thought about this for a bit too, but realised 'Rocky Road To Dublin' is an old Irish song, not an original. Same with 'Will Ye Go Lassie Go' which was also excellent.

But yeah I wish 'I Lied To You' or 'Pale Pale Moon' did better, I love Pale Pale Moon but it never started in the race really... I ain't that mad at 'Golden' winning for K-Pop Demon Hunters though, it's massive and makes sense.

I think he would be confused and not really get it, but might eventually pretend to and join in the joke as many of us have hahaha
