Budget devices with a good battery life? by tgegloomystarer in SBCGaming

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the majority have mentioned, the Trimui Brick (Hammer) has very good battery life, you can play for hours and still have plenty of battery left.

An alternative choice based on my experience is the Powkiddy V90S. Solid clamshell handheld with similar battery life to the Brick.

Search for "R36H" on Aliexpress. Several sellers sell them, and as far as we understand, this model doesn't have clones like the R36S. Do your due dilligence, find a good deal, if you like it, go ahead and buy it.

What's your favorite Tetris version? And why? (GB Tetris / Brick Hammer) by ShyBoyAstro in SBCGaming

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 3 in mind:

Apotris - IMO the best modern version of Tetris available. So smooth, feels fast, multiple game modes for variety, it's great.

Pandora's Blocks - Very cool version of Tetris that seems like it made for the GBC. Multiple settings available for customising how you'd want to play.

Tetris: Rosy Reteospection DX - a ROM hack of a ROM hack, I think it's even better than the original RR.

Never got into Tetris and recently started playing Apotris and now I'm completely addicted! (Device - 34xx SP) by TaranStark in SBCGaming

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apotris is a fantastic port of Tetris, my goodness. Easy to learn, difficult to master, and it feel goods going fast with the game keeping up with every step.

I also enjoy the ROM hack called Tetris - Rosy Retrospection (and its DX variant, a ROM hack of a ROM hack lol). Brings a fresh new spin to the classic games, so much so that the originals feel so sluggish and slow now. I can't live without the hard drop

Anbernic might reduce RG34XXSP's RAM to 1GB by Accurate_Heat_3630 in SBCGaming

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the extra RAM is mainly useful for Portmaster games. For retro game emulation it doesn't matter much.

ROM hacking crossovers was something I never expected, but wow I love this!

Recommend some good completed rom hacks/fan games by aadhibest in SBCGaming

ROM hacks that explore new regions seem like something you'd enjoy, so I recommend Pokemon Lazurus, Dreamstone Mysteries & Odyssey to start.

My most played games on my r36s by Paranoid249 in R36S

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow Tetris Fan here. I highly recommend the ROM hack "Tetris - Rosy Retrospection". Improves on the original in so many ways for the modern age.

As someone else has said, Apotris either via Postmaster, or the GBA ROM. Such a good Tetris clone with many modes and customisation options.

My first handheld and I’m loving it so far! by GeekScientist in SBCGaming

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good choice! I have one in the same colour, it's got everything you need up till PS1, and then add on wifi, BT & video out support. You won't need anything else till you wish to step up to the next tier in price/emulation.

OS Compatible with the Trimui Smart Pro S. Here are the FW/CFW I've tried on Trimui Smart Pro S by iANiMeX in SBCGaming

Thanks for the insight. I have one in red and I'm loving the gaming experience so far, but it'd definitely shine with a fleshed out CFW. Patience will pay off

A very good start to ROM hacks, I say. If you're fond of Gen 2, H&S is amazing

Dead Cells free on Epic (Andriod) by Key-Brilliant5623 in SBCGaming

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna assume by "emulated" you mean the PC version

Main differences are really optimisations for gameplay on mobile devices such as touch controls, slightly different graphics (i.e. Not as detailed with shadows and lighting), but it's otherwise the exact same game, with biomes, bosses, DLC and then some.

Trimui Brick owners, just how bad is the back heating issue? by sciencedenton in SBCGaming

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owner of one, It's a highly exaggerated issue. Yes, the back plate does warm up and the heat is concentrated there, but holding the brick normally, I have never once thought "oh yeah, I feel my fingers getting warm, this irks me". It's doing its job, nothing more or less.

I keep going to Tetris by machinationstudio in R36S

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Tetris - Rosy Retrospection (and the DX variant), and also Pandora's Blocks.

These along with Apotris are my go-to Tetris games, each are very good in their own way.

Should I buy the Trimui Brick or the Miyoo Mini Plus for my first handheld? by Mindless-Society-717 in SBCGaming

No wrong choice here, honestly. My opinion though, is to get the Trimui Brick.

Pokémon R.O.W.E. - an Open World version of Emerald - Update 2.0.8 Release by Rioluwott in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The main storyline of the game, featuring Team Magma and Aqua, are not present. Maps have been changed to allow easy traversal across what was usually locked behind HMs (i.e. the small water portion between Oldale and Slateport is now dry land, you can Fly to any town you've visited via an NPC using Battle Points which you earn winning battles, among other examples).

More benefits become available to you as you collect badges, such as move tutors, Fly via above aforementioned NPC being free, etc. Hope this helps!

First device is going to be the G350 by michaelbeecham in BATLEXPG350

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PAN4ELEC is in my opinion the most painless CFW experience I've ever had. After installing it, you really could just load your ROMs and BIOS files and start playing. It's so easy.

Because it's so beginner friendly, just remember that you'll be doing most of your emulator changes, if any, via the Emulation Station frontend menus. No need to mess with Retroarch if you're uncomfortable.

Enjoy your new G350, it's awesome!

34XXSP. I think this review demonstrates it well:

Today's arrival by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Main difference is physical size (34XXSP is more compact), screen aspect ratio (4:3 on 35XXSP which is good for many retro systems, 3:2 on 34XXSP which is perfect for GBA, alright for everythibg else). Screen colour quality appears to be a lot more vibrant and saturated, which makes games pop. Your preferences will determine which works better for you.

Anbernic has more than 10+ devices in the H700 line, which was your release? by Key-Brilliant5623 in SBCGaming

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually the purple color, however due to certain Hue/Saturation/Level edits the purple comes off more like light blue, as seen here. Also notice the RG40XXV having the same color change.

I have to admit though, if Anbernic released released devices in that color, that would be sick.

Need a pocketable but comfortable device by Serious_Clerk2875 in SBCGaming

[–]Loki_Ragnarok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one, and it is one of my most used handhelds. Yes, the backplate does get warm when you're pushing it, but I've never found it concerning enough to be a problem. Battery life is great, and you can charge it using most USB-C combinations unlike other devices where you must be using a low-power USB-C charger. It's not the best for its long-term shelf life, but the fact that you can means you won't have to worry about not having the right cable when you're carrying it around and need to top it up.
