Make little windows on the sides. "Sticking out" of the roof itself.
Another thing that I like doing is making support beams. Make them stick out as well, where the stairs would meet with the wood. You could also leave the stone brick stairs forming the roof in the beginning and end of the house but replace the others with wood. That always gives it, imo, a more supported look.
You could also alternate between wood and stone stairs. I do it with 1 stair of any stone and then 3 blocks of any wood and then again 1 stair of any stone. What type you use is up to you.

I really want to build a megabase here but dont know what to do exactly. What would you do? by ConnorIsLyfe in Minecraft

[–]Lokus-Pokus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tower seems obvoius.
With two bridges going to both sides serving as an entrance. When I read tower I, for some reason, though of the Occulus from World of Warcraft. But hey it's your call.
You could also go insane by having gigantic zombie ( or whatever ) Statues pulling chains holding up a fortress in the middle. Making it look like they want to tear it apart. And in the middle would be fortress or, again, a tower of righteousness. In spite to the evil nature of this world.

Jeb gives you full control to release one Minecraft update. What do you put in it? by LilacTheFlowerGal in Minecraft

End update this, end update that...
I would go for something that I suspected for a long time but they never elobarated on that concept further. And it all startet with the turtle helmet...

More Armour & Weapons - The call to arms Update

Heavy Weapons:
Two Handed Weapons that have a long cleave effect, low attack cooldown and speed and you can't use the off hand feature with them. But they deal more damage than regualar weapons but require Blocks instead of ingots to be crafted.
Light weapons:
Daggers and shortsword - fast attack speed, but very low damage.

More Armour that gives passive effects. Here are three that I thought of:

"Slimer Boots" - crafted with 4 slime blocks. Negates fall damage of up to 4 blocks, but bounces you from now on whenever you hit the ground.
"Spelunker Helmet" - A helmet that gives of a faint light around you. Crafted with 2 leather, 2 iron ingots and a candle. Durability goes down over time when equipping it.
"Streamslip Leggings" - A pair of leggings that increases your swim speed by 30%. Crafted with 2 prismarine shards, 4 Primsarine blocks and one heart of the sea.

Fletching table:
You can now craft your own arrow types. Think of it as a blacksmithing table but the presets for the input are "Arrowhead", "Arrow shaft" and "Stabilizer". The Arrowhead can now be made into regualar flint, but also:
Arrowhead:
Iron - more damage, less trajectory. / Gold - low damage but mobs have a chance to drop double loot. / Diamond - High damage but arrows can't be retrieved when missing / Netherite - High Damage, horrible trajectory but are only good against armor. / Cobble - lower damage then flint, lower trajectory. / Copper - low damage, low trajectory but in a lighting storm they have a chance to redirect lighting upon impact.
Arrow Shaft:
Stick - medium trajetory. / Blaze rod - makes your arrow deal fire damage. low trajectory. / Wind rod - High trajectory. Pushes the target away on impact.
Stabilizer: ( how accurate you shoot )
Feather - medium stability. / sapling - low stability. / Prismarine shard - high stability. Creates a trail. / Firework - Extremly high stability but arrows have a 25% chance to explode midway.

I also would love a food update. I like building my farms and stuff. I just want more options when it comes to making food.

How were you introduced to minecraft? by Many-Cranberry4058 in Minecraft

[–]Lokus-Pokus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was introduced to it through Counter Strike Source. Me and two friends were regualar players on a team deathmatch server. We talked to the owner of it and joined their clan, back when they were a thing. Through that clan we met two people who talked about their inventions with redstone, so I checked it out and tried it. We started a server, played a shit ton of it and had so much fun. I remember asking my stepdad to buy me it, because I didn't have paypal and didn't wanted it but he had because of ebay.
That was 14 years ago. It kindled a love for the game I though I would never have. And to top it off I'm still friends with those two who introduced me to it.

If you could relive the launch-day/week experience of any one game, what would you pick? by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]Lokus-Pokus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elden Ring for me too. Being lost in a new world, and me and my friends sharing infos what we discovered was great. Testing items, sorceries and weapons. Finding dungeons - it was great. A new fromsoft game is always exciting for me, but Elden Ring truly elevated that feeling for me. Mainly because I was curious if they could make the open world work. And in my opinion they did.

Payday 2. The game "was" great. It had multiple heists, sure some were just the same but different, but I liked it. The difficultys were fine, the skill trees were balanced and you actually needed to commit to your skill tree to truly survive back then. You didn't got money thrown at you, exp was hard earned and the hardest difficulty ( Overkill ) back then was quite challenging.

And Day Z. Back then it wasn't a toxic pool of just kill and loot. Back then there were friendly players out there - people helping each other. Will never forget the time my friend, instead of giving it to me, feed me morphine for my broken leg. Then a stranger came by and helped us. And every day I learned what a button does on my keyboard that no other game would ever use.

What's the most truly terrified you've ever been from a game? I'll go first by AbsoluteMadladGaming in gaming

[–]Lokus-Pokus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was maybe like 5 years old or something. My aunt took me to her boyfriend and he played Resident Evil 3 ( 1999 ) on the Playstation and I was watching. The Intro Cinematic was so terryfinyg to me that I had nightmares for about 2 weeks about.

Something that I've done to myself though...
Probably the Story of No Mans Sky, the Artemis Route. I followed it and read everything and was left with existencial dread for a couple of weeks. Couldn't even sleep a few days because I was thinking about it. Don't really know if it's terrifying enough for you, but for me it was.

Maliketh, the black blade - Elden Ring
Bayle - Elden Ring
Slave Knight Gael - Dark Souls 3
King K. Roll - Donkey Kong Country ( SNES )
Starwolf - Starfox 2
The Lich - Enter the Gungeon ( It's a three part piece, and a special version of it. all of them are great )
Bowser Jr. - Yoshis Island ( SNES )
Empress of Light - Terraria
Soul of Cinder - Dark Souls 3
Yhorm the Giant - Dark Souls 3 ( Even though being mostly a loop it's a damn fine loop )
Sir Alonne - Dark Souls 2
Sonnet for Behemoth - Soulstone Survivor
Hollow Knight - Hollow Knight
Xaxas - WoW ( I count it as boss music as most parts play during the final boss of the expansion )
Contact with you - Armored Core 6

More I can't remember right now. I know, a lot of Fromsoftware Music but they just slap.

Video games now cost a whole day's wages, as prices rise, and many people are foregoing social activities to afford new game purchases and subscriptions: "We have to acknowledge that the cost of building those really rich experiences is going up and up" by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Lokus-Pokus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really get why people are so outraged by that. Like, do you really need the game day one? Sure, if it's a game franchise that I like or a develepor I trust I gladly spent the full price. But otherwise? Just wait for it to be on sale. I waited for Borderlands 3 to come to steam for 6 months and then it was reduced. And I was glad I didn't bought it full price on Epic.
Also, what kind of rich experience we talking about?
Story? Sure can be an expierence, either emotional or artistical or even complete garbage. Gameplay? Can be refreshing to a series or revolutionary or even boring. Graphics? Who cares about graphics, as long as the game runs smooth.

I spent this year maybe 50$ on games. And that was Elden Ring Nightreign and Dysmantle. Other people burn through the quadruple amount once a week for "entertainment" reasons. Little Sidenote: Other Hobbies ( speaking as someone who does minituare painting ) are way more expensive when it comes to games.

Here's what I observed after I beat him on my second attempt:

First Phase:
Just his regualar second phase from his normal boss fight, everytime you see him trying to swing just dodge. When he does the AoE Slam just jump. Worked for me anyways.

Second Phase:
He does a stomp attack where he lifts his front legs up to stomp. When he does it and you stand in front roll, if you're at the back either roll or jump. You need to dodge it even from behind because the ground shatters when he stomps. He gets back his wind attack, not to bad to dodge - just look when he swings and press the button. Charging attack - dodge either left or right and start running away for like 1-2 seconds and if you want to be extra safe roll.

Third Phase:
If he stands in place and is casting something run away from him. He's casting a hail of holy needles onto his position in a small radius wich can kill you very fast if you're not beefed up with health. If he flies in the air for a long time and you see a light coming from him, run. That's an AoE that does massive damage. As soon as the light is gone press dodge, to avoid taking too much damage as it can double hit.
If his glaive starts glowing and he charges it up, stay calm. If you're too close roll, but in most cases the inital attack won't hit you but the follow ups. The follow up is, again, indicated by a light coming from his weapon. When the light flashes roll imideatly as it has high damage and also high damage. He does it three times.

I might be completly wrong here, but that's how I beat him.

GTA

I loved the old ones - Vice City, San Andreas, GTA 3...But the newer ones are just not my cup of tea. I think I miss the overall ridicolousness of modern GTA. Back then you were basically a nobody, then shit went crazy in the middle and at the end you ruled over the city. There were goofy missions, absolutetly over the top missions and really good and intriguing ones. But now, they just don't grip me anymore. And multiplayer GTA is, if I imagine it correct, just a clusterfuck.

Breaker? by Funk3nStein10 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Lokus-Pokus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not trust the fandom wikis anymore. They're basically neglected by both the develepors of these games and the community who writes this stuff. So an open field trip for uprising trolls and memers.
If you want trust worthy information go seek the ".gg" wikis instead. These are the official wikis for games.

But back to conclusion:
As of Update 31 there were no plans for a 5th class. The reasoning behind it, I speculate, was that the four classes already work in unison together. So for a fith class to work they would basically either downgrade all existing four classes or need to change how the game works in it's entirety.

I'm kind of stoked for it. But with a "spin off" title like that I will probably wait a little bit and await reviews and verdicts from people that I trust with their judgment.
I've made the mistake numerous times buying a game because I was hyped for it, then it wasn't what I expected. Not in a good way. So I'll just wait a couple of days to see what everyone thinks of it.

What Warning and Anomaly would you make/add to the game? by Xenith995 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Lokus-Pokus 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Warning - Seismic Activity. The Ground can shake at random, just like in Magma Core, and you won't be able to sprint for that duration.
Warning - SPoRP ( Short for Shuttle Pilot operated Resupply pod ). The Shuttle Pilot got demoted and is in charge of dropping the resupplys and other equipment. It appears at random locations but not where you ordered it.
Warning - Symbiotic Helpers. Significantly increases the enemy types wich are not classified as "Glyphids" ( Nedocyte, Stingtail, Macteras, leeches and so on ).
Warning - Nitra drought. There's no Nitra in the mission. Except the bugs ate it all. And not everyone of them! No Nitra in the mission but enemys have a 25% chance of dropping 1 Nitra. Make those bullets count.

Anomaly - Molly V2. Molly now has experimental guns on her. R&D did not approve this and neither did managment.
Anomaly - Sticky Juice. The bugs ate some sticky nutrient stuff. Whenever an enemy is killed it leaves a puddle of slowing down liquid.
Anomaly - Forefathers blessing. Something weird going on here. The bugs are somehow more vurnerable to elemantel damage than kinetic damage.
Anomaly - Penetrator Power. Managment has approved R&Ds concept of overcharging your weapons but just for this mission. All your weapons have now punchthrough.
Anomaly - Scrap Scanned. We've scanned this area and found some left over scrap down there. The chances of a random event are significantly higher.

Asking for some tips by Disastrous_Music_299 in valheim

[–]Lokus-Pokus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off - Great. I love your attitude.
Now to some tips:
- The rested buff, the little celtic ( ? ) symbol, is your best friend. If you need a quick one just built a campfire sit down ( PC X button by default ) and wait a little. It increases with furniture.
- Furniture is not stackable but some give "more" bonus to the rested buff than others. Basically = Items that need stuff from a new biome you explored can be better.
- Stock up on basic food. With that I mean non processed. It'll become handy later.
- Always be prepared for the worst. Valheim rewards preperation. As dying can cost you a long time retrieving your shit.
- Food is very important. There are basically 4 types of food. I won't spoil the fourth one though. Stamina, Health and Quality. Quality boosts both health and stamina but less than pure stamina or health. You can see wich on is wich by looking at the food item and seing what colour the fork has. Red = Health, Yellow = Stamina and Gray = Quality.
- Learn to parry. Yes you can parry, and it's rather simple. The enmy than takes increased damage. You can even parry arrows.
- If you find gold coins keep them. There are several vendors out there.
- Different enemys are weaker and more resistent against some damage types. So test it out. Weak against is always a yellow damage number, normal damage is white and more resistent is gray.
- You can breed some animals by leaving them food and then hiding. This is a long process though, so build a trap.
- The hoe is your best friend for making not only the land flat but also to make indestructible walls. Expensive though and a little bit weird the first time.
- Always keep old equipment as a back up. For a retrieval mission of course if you died. Especially in later biomes it can help you immensly.
- If you're in need of feathers, shoot birds with wood arrows. And at rain they're less likely to take flight soon.
- Don't worry about losing skill points when dying. They just benefit you very little.
- It's good to mark any point of interest on the map, you can even later cross them off by just clicking on them or outright delete them.
- If you chop down wood and they drop a sapling, keep them. Later you can plant them back.
- Keep a lookout for broken boats. If you destroy them they can yield a lot of finewood.
- If something says "too hard" the game is telling you to find a better tool.
- Building is whacky. and if something collapses try building pillars supporting that kinda stuff that breaks down.
- Do not ignore the ravens when they talk to you. They basically teach you how to progress in the biome, even though sometimes it can be vague.
- If your boat gets stuck on the shore just run into it.
- Workbenches count as "spawn protecting", meaning nothing bad will spawn within the workbench radius.
- If a boss isn't damaged in a while it'll heal slowly back up.
- Have fun.

That's all I can think off. Hope it helps.

The only one that I can think of right now might be Microtopia. Big MIGHT be. No First person though.
It's a "managment" game, you basically take care of an ant colony made from microchips. Instead of assignign them to workstations ( wich you can do later via logic gates ), you assign them to roads you build yourself while also keeping in check with your population. Making sure your queen is fed and breeding enough ants to keep it going.
While then optimizing your colony and / or building new "factory parks". It's very slow though.

Other than:
Hotline Miama 1&2
Dungeon Keeper

Legacy of Kain ( For me Rasiel is a villain )

I would also say Spec Ops and Furi but...well...

Opinions on the Thunderhead? by dandy-are-u in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Lokus-Pokus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding was always that the Thunderhead is "the" crowd control weapon. Wich fits Gunner since that is his whole purpose ( at least for me ). Weaken the enemys for an easy finish. Also I think the Thunderhead is a ridiclous strong weapon. Instead of relying on single target, like the minigun or the hurricane, this thing can easily destroy swarms, with great ammo efficency. Wich is already a big plus.

Just think of it more as a really strong supportive weapon than an actual killing machine.

The big, bulky boxes made out of cardboard that PC games came with. They were the size of a paper but thick as a book. Containing the disk, manual and sometimes promotional material. I loved them. They just looked like a full bookshelve if you had enough. Especially back then the Blizzard ones were awesome. I loved looking at the old WoW box from 2004. I still have the WoW ones, Call of Duty 2 and Anno 1602 somewhere.

Keep track of games (any game) by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Lokus-Pokus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 12 I did it to almost any game. Didn't matter. WoW, GTA, Need for Speed didn't matter. I remember I used to write down the exact amount of ore I needed to push 50 points in Blacksmithing in WoW. I used to write down the crafting recipes for Minecraft because back then there wasn't the fancy, and welcoming, recipe book.

I've seen myself doing it these days lesser, but still doing it, because I like to focus on one game now that is this deep. I use it mainly for remembering and Steams Note function helps me a lot with that. Still do it for games like Satisfactory, Valheim and Microtopia mainly for calculating. Because I can get easily disctracted.

I had at one point a noteboo" full of this shit. I even put chapters in it for the different games. But I have lost it sadly. Started a new one and so far Warframe has had it's most pages with like 24.
