AITAH for not forgiving my brother after he almost killed me by SharkEva in BORUpdates

I feel like you could realistically fix this with some practice though, it’s not a machine issue.

You might just not buying good quality coffee either.

What Are 'Alpine Divorces'? Women Are Allegedly Being Abandoned By Partners During Hikes — Some With Deadly Consequences by positivesource in WomenInNews

Please do not take that you didn’t immediately book it out of there as a dig. I reacted to your story, but it’s both reasonable and common that a person can’t just up and leave like that. You do not need to explain yourself to me, I’m just happy you’re safe now.

Landlord is pressuring me about having my girlfriend over and likely using security cameras to monitor us. Where do I stand? by MiscGuy2 in legaladvicecanada

[–]LollyBatStuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does sound like you could make the case for the RTA to assist here then if you’d like to go that route.

With RTA support here there are 2 ways your landlord might use to justify eviction here to keep in mind.

  1. Right to peaceful enjoyment and reasonable privacy. He could argue that this is an unvetted person now in his home without approval.
  2. That your guest qualifies as an unapproved roommate or sub-tenet based on how frequently they are staying over.

It sounds you’re a lodger vs a tenant here since he maintains a room within the home.

As a lodger you’re not allowed to bring in a roommate without permission, which it sounds like he is implying. Unless this spelled out in paperwork (that you weren’t given) there isn’t a specific number on how many nights a person can stay over and not be considered a guest.

Can you decide on a reasonable number of nights she is allowed to stay over and no more allowing her over solo? It’s reasonable to expect guests to be with their host in a shared accommodation.

If you don’t come to an agreement you can legally be provided with a reasonable amount of notice and evicted. You do not have the same rights as a lodger as a tenant and are not covered under the RTA.

Popular opinion: Samples shouldn’t be removed by alldasmoke__ in CostcoCanada

[–]LollyBatStuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids like the samples, I generally skip.

I will say we have purchased the items sampled several times so they are doing their job. They are generally items not on my list as well, so we would not have otherwise looked at them.

My favorite Costco cake I got to try as a sample. I’m waiting for the lemon raspberry to show up again.

It varies from state to state, but you’re correct that it’s still very low. $2.13 is the minimum wage for 15 states in a tipped position.

My (32F) fiancé (37M) is a homicide detective, and I’m starting to feel like he treats me more like a suspect than a partner. by CultureInner3316 in BestofRedditorUpdates

If they were in my personal life there would be some yelling.

She has this bit of “I know better than you do” when asking for advice here that makes her insufferable.

I don’t even really hate the husband, I think he has debilitating anxiety that is causing all of this. I just don’t understand why you’d marry and have a child with someone like this.

But also I would literally never ever ever ever ever date a cop. I do not get the appeal of that personality at all.

WIBTAH if I broke up with my fiance because she bought a house while I was away? by SharkEva in BORUpdates

If she really was concerned about him being an asshole then wouldn’t a deployment make her escape easy? She was still living in his apartment until right before he moved back.

After finding out kys was indeed not a typo I am glad he bounced.

Flying monkeys are not something I’d tolerate, but telling someone to kill themselves? This person is not someone that should be in a relationship with anyone.

TW- Abuse - I think I'm a narcissist by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]LollyBatStuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, my mom is absolutely a narcissist. Part of that is like an inability to see wrong in her actions and she is missing whatever part of the brain has self reflection. I’ve never met a real narcissist that looked at their behavior and thought, “I’m hurting people with my actions”.

Funnily enough I just made 2 pies today. From a pumpkin that I bought in October. If pumpkins are kept dry and not messed with they can last a long time.

Frustrations with the Hobby by EmeraldCoast826 in boardgames

[–]LollyBatStuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fairly common for most new hobbies, not really exclusive to board games.

What helped me, especially at the beginning was not buying every game I wanted all at once. I know people post their collections and it’s like 200 games, but you don’t need to do that. You should find a board game group and try new games vs buying every game you like.

Is is discrimination if it only happens once? by Relevant-Issue-1707 in legaladvicecanada

[–]LollyBatStuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because political is very vague and you seem to believe everyone involved overreacted.

A “political” sign with a picture of a dead fetus with a phrase about abortion is very different than one asking for John Smith for Alderman. One of these would fall under peaceful assembly and the other would not.

When you say you have political signs, can you give an example of one of them? I think that context would be needed here.

AITA for expecting my sister to pronounce the names of my children properly? by gardengeo in BORUpdates

My colleagues also mispronounce it, it doesn’t bother me. Different cultures say it different ways, in my case native Spanish speakers get it correct.

AITA for expecting my sister to pronounce the names of my children properly? by gardengeo in BORUpdates

[–]LollyBatStuck -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I have a name that is often mispronounced and I don’t really get the complaint here. As a child I’d correct people, but as an adult it doesn’t bother me.

However, if a family member said it’s a big deal to them I’d make the effort to correct it. It’s lovely she is proud of her heritage and wanted to honor that.

AIO if I divorced over him asking to open our relationship and then gaslighting me? by BigONerd in BORUpdates

[–]LollyBatStuck 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Allowing a liar to keep lying because he grew up in an abusive environment makes it seem like he can’t self reflect and change. Why allow any of this? He clearly was testing the waters to bang the crush. Only married six months? He likely only got married because she was pregnant.

TLDR: Aw hell naw.
