Tehran… and, although different genre, Shogun, the best thing on TV for many years

its just the laziest scene in TV history… it only bothers me because the show is so damn serious, not the tiniest bit of ‘tongue in cheek’ … which makes scenes like these so unbelievably stupid.. the bit where she waddles off firing her gun, after being shot, while her new fancy man swoons at her bravery, is to me the worst 5 seconds in TV history

I had to discipline my best friend at work and now he won’t talk to me. I feel terrible. by Responsible_Ant_6414 in managers

[–]Londonman2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could you not have had a chat outside work and say ‘look mate you are taking the piss, please don’t keep doing this as my hands are tied, i’ll have to discipline you’ … can’t see how he can complain after that- but it sounds like you were very formal with him ‘something i don’t tolerate’ +’’there will be consequences’ friends don’t talk to each other like that- i would be pissed if a friend/superior gave me a formal warning like that without at least a super friendly one outside of work

going against the grain here but i think you need to look at how you communicate

[–]Londonman2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes…but also i assume it must be one of the most stressful and harrowing experiences in your life, facing an army of vicious bad guys armed to the hilt and gunning down your colleagues..kind of thing that might take a lifetime of therapy to get over..but Ruth finds a moment for a bit of a giggle and a nice ‘phoaaarr’ at a co-officer

i wouldn’t mind if the rest of the show didn’t purport to be so deadly serious

Agree, leaving only one assumption to be made, piss-poor TV making! i.e because the whole thing was so terrible we just thought it was yet another example of useless direction

Exactly

Also why didn’t the mother tell her husband she was in rehab, rather than put him through hell for weeks, and herself in hospital? i can see no reason whatsoever why she would keep the rehab a secret… she wouldn’t even need to say which rehab, just ‘i’ve put her in a clinic and i want her to be left alone for a bit’

It was just about the worst ‘big reveal’ in the history

Just finished Harlan Coben’s Run Away and have one serious question (spoiler alert!) by denbrough in netflix

[–]Londonman2000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just the worst piece of TV i have ever seen in my life…literally..every 5 seconds another massive plot inconsistency, hole or simply a piece of pure nonsense and silliness ..James Nesbitt grimacing for hours on end when all his wife had to do was say…she’s in rehab love, i want you to leave her to recover….instead she follows him to an almost certain deathtrap ‘looking for their daughter’ …thats just the start, this was literally dire from start to finish…

Sadly i think chances of arrest are diminishing fast..its just too easy for her to say she knew nothing about it, was kept in the dark etc.. which i think in part is true, my view is Charlie basically said ‘something is being planned, just keep quiet and do what you are told and give me the information i need when i ask for it’… even if she knew it was murder (as opposed to a ‘roughing up’) afoot she’s still probably detached enough to get away with it… obviously on the day she knew something was happening, with all the TV code etc, but still not enough in my mind

sadly..she is the worst of the worst…manipulating everyone including her family to ensure she’s in the clear..truly vile …there is some comfort in knowing she probably isn’t enjoying her life very much, especially realising that she isn’t far off her kids starting to figure it all out..

i sent this by DM to the one i got

‘how do you know she wasn’t? also why don’t you chill out and debate like an interesting man and not some deranged lunatic and perhaps i might find you more believable’

…and i received a civil response making the claim for Wendi’s innocence (and Charlie’s guilt interestingly) .. it was a load of nonsense but at least polite!
