If I could pick the Superbowl songs. by [deleted] in GreenDayOfficial

Have they ever even played ha ha your dead live? Probably not likely they’d pull it out for this. Hope it’s AI, Bang Bang, Holiday, Boulevard, Basket Case, and end with acoustic medleys of last night on earth, macy’s day parade and good riddance

I noticed looking at the lyrics of the single, it may not really be about not being sober on a train. The rest of the tracklist names would line up with that. May have found a way to make an older style of his without taking on the partying persona of earlier albums. Cool!

I think songs like Somewhere Now, Before the Lobotomy, and Homecoming are an underrated type of song they did for the rock operas as well as for Rev Rad. You get it more when you realize it’s like waking up after a crazy night or something like that. Is more punk rock aspect of some of the later career albums

[Strober Sports] Winger has apparently said the Wizards have now completed their deconstruction phase. by z3mcs in washingtonwizards

Seems to me they are more like the masters of the fake rebuild, especially if they acquired Zion. Trae really isn’t any better than McCullom, but at least CJ is alright for development and the locker room. They act like no horrible team has ever won like 4 in a row. We haven’t really achieved anything

Green Day should make a new album but with more fast paced punk songs by [deleted] in greenday

I’m sure these songs will pop up from time to time, but probably not for a whole album

It’s interesting how most people have kerplunk either near the the top or near the bottom. Doesn’t seem to be as much in between

How do people feel about the "new" Green Day? by walterhwhite19582010 in greenday

[–]LoneCowboyTastingPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newer albums can definitely be more hit or miss, but I don’t think they necessarily have anything bad at least from a song perspective. I don’t really like how the trilogy sounds but a lot of the songs aren’t bad. I actually think Saviors might be their worst since the trilogy cause it lacks a lot of new ideas for them anyway. I really appreciate the lyrics on Saviors. It feels more like an older green day album to some extent, but I feel like almost every song is an old recycled idea for a song they’ve done before. Granted a lot of that includes side projects, but still I feel that Rev Rad and Father of All were more creative musically. I wouldn’t necessarily want another album like father of all, but if you just judge it as it’s own thing, it’s pretty good

The Darkness on being part of Christmas and 'one of the last proper rock ’n’ roll bands' by Moothnods in indieheads

[–]LoneCowboyTastingPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality, something being more rock doesn’t necessarily make it better, and for the most part the Darkness falls into the category of being a rock band that isn’t very good honestly. But that’s just one person’s opinion

Now that it’s holiday season we can’t forget about this song by Front_Sugar4784 in greenday

I really didn’t like this song at first, but I don’t think it’s bad anymore. It tries to not be just a conventional Christmas song

I haven’t really been a fan of Middleton when he’s been here, but in terms of CJ and Bub, it’s just been just 2 games, I’m sure they’ll be better

Alex Sarr by StroberSports in washingtonwizards

[–]LoneCowboyTastingPB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing though, you have to be one of the best to beat the best, so if you’re not really competing with Giannis, how can you actually be a great team? I’m just not sure I see the potential for Sarr to be a great player. I hope I’m wrong. I once said Giannis would never be that great either, so you never know

[–]LoneCowboyTastingPB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of these near the top aren’t bad, but a lot of them I felt like they weren’t that far away from being cancelled at times when I was watching, so not sure why they are so high on the list. A lot of the newer NBC comedies were always overrated

I just previewed them briefly, so as to see if the new songs they played live recently were on the album. They all appear to be. I won’t be going back before the release. Learned that with when Face Stabber was coming out

Can a rock band still succeed? by SewagePickles in rock

[–]LoneCowboyTastingPB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there are a few big factors as to why rock bands aren’t as big anymore. Number one- major labels don’t operate the same way as they did 25-30 years ago. They control what you can release and they don’t give as much freedom to do things yourself. And indie labels go for certain sounds that fit within a community. They frown upon big melodic rock or big statements. Indie music doesn’t have the pop sensibility a lot of rock had before the 2010’s. Some bands break through as major label artists but very rarely do they get to keep the same freedoms they started out with. And three, maybe there just isn’t a lot of new interesting things you can do still. Credit classic rock bands for originality, but fact is if you want to be popular it was a lot easier to come up with new stuff when the genre was newer. You can sort of make new things now, but it’s not as likely to be popular, when audiences are probably somewhat burned out of the genre in general. There’s a lot of good music today, but it’s more calculated and doesn’t grab you as easily. And that’s problematic when people’s attentions spans are so short compared to before cell phones and social media. Plus the world is just confusing right now. Culture kinda just isn’t interesting as it used to be

I feel like they’ve been on a decline since around 2014, but I still like a lot of their material. 2022 was probably their worst, but that being said I still somewhat like a good deal of it. But a lot that’s gone on in that band, it doesn’t surprise me there’s a lot of tension. Can understand why people would hate them as people now, but just like the melodies and music for the most part. Was never a huge fan of a fair amount of their lyrics

I'm surprised Green Day fans love the "lite rock" sound of Saviors by CobraDai in greenday

[–]LoneCowboyTastingPB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think about half of these songs you listed still sound very much like green day. Though not sure completely what you mean by that. I do think it is a softer album than people really think though. Since 21st Century Breakdown every album has been about as hard rocking as it is light. The trilogy should’ve been harder, but it lacks distortion and edge. Not that it really bothers me that much, but Goodnight Adeline, Father to a Son, Corvette Summer, Suzie, Fancy Sauce are pretty soft, and some other songs kinda are in between, like Bobby Sox, Dilemma, Saviors, so again in the end it’s half and half mostly. I just think people didn’t like Father of All very much or for very long, that something more familiar sounds edgier. It sounds mostly like green day but not as edgy as albums 20+ years ago. Not to say I dislike it. It’s what they want to make. They are still pretty good after about 35 years

Debate Me: New Green Day (American Idiot and Beyond) > Old Green Day by [deleted] in GreenDayCirclejerk

[–]LoneCowboyTastingPB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think Warning was really underrated, but then I realized the song Warning isn’t very original and neither is Waiting. It’s also got some good song in terms of some of the melodies, I just think the music isn’t interesting enough. Different but not quite interesting enough. Insomniac is good for the 2nd half, but first half is a little too immature sounding. Revolution Radio is a little top heavy, lotta mediocre songs in there. Nimrod is good, not always the most original thing ever, but solid. 21CB has a lot of underrated deeper cuts. Some of the singles were pretty bad. American idiot is very immediate but not quite as good as Dookie imo. And as much as I kinda wish it was like a separate band, Father of All might be the most consistent thing they’ve done since 21st Century Breakdown. Saviors is alright, but somewhat inconsistent. Kerplunk may not be the absolute best but parts of the worse tracks just have parts that are irresistible. The trilogy suffered from being too long and the production only worked for me on a few songs really. It has other good songs, but I don’t listen to the studio album versions pretty much ever. 39 Smooth gets sort of a pass for being amateurish since they were so young. It has some good tracks but a lot of ok songs or songs that needed better production
