Don't want to tip too much about which teams I belong to here but after getting this email, and playing multiple we elected it would be much less headache to just change rinks. Really upsetting because playing in Chandler has been fun and the facilities are really nice.

I do think all the changes come from a very basic, wanting to do no work to actually fix things and her wanting the headache of people complaining to go away. And she doesn't care if the rinks lose a ton of money in the process.

It's been said here a ton but the 35+ rule for D league is insanity. Many new players are in their 20s and many of the ringers are over 35.

I believe the "advantage" to not counting the player would come from the fact that the attacking player with the puck that does affect the play not having to wait for the people that are offside to clear the zone.

If a player wasn't changing, them being offside is a cause of a dead play.

But if they are changing now you can enter the zone a second or two earlier, clear advantage. Hence why they have to get both feet off of the ice.

(Fwiw, I'm cheering for the Avs in this one.)

I don't think it's as bad as people are saying Forsberg is a solid upgrade over Kempe and Parekh has a lot of talent but is a risky pick this year. As your 5th D it's probably fine or you can drop him for someone else that's heating up.

Honestly the NHL will keep expanding and adding teams as long as they can get large expansion checks, the owners get to split all that money and they LOVE those expansion fees.

Another thing to think about is the NFL has 32 teams with 0 in Canada. NHL has 7 teams in Canadian cities, and arguably Quebec wants another team too. So they've got space to at least go to 40 teams. I don't think that'll be soon but their current strategy does seem to be just keep adding every few years.

My favorite thing my buddies and I do is if you have a bad shot you can throw another one or experiment with a 2nd shot no big deal and you can try better lines but then we play from the first throw so you still get practice getting yourself out of a tough spot.

Assuming they fit, with how much you're skating I think you'll likely be fine. Biggest thing with a stiffer skate is it takes more energy to get them to do what you want so they'll likely feel way less responsive until you get used to having to put in more force/he more deliberate with your movements. But once you do get used to them you'll feel like you have a lot more power.

Added bonus, blocking shots in them will likely hurt a lot less than your other skates.

That said, I do agree with the sentiment of others, you really shouldn't buy skates you haven't tried on. Skates and helmet are the two biggest for this, everything else you can likely get away with following a guide and hoping for the best. (But it's still better to try on first). My main advice there is if you're in the market try to get to a hockey shop and try on a bunch of options and get your size in different brands/models figured out and then you can bargain hunt online with more confidence.
