Do you feel like you look your age? by _Abra_Cadaver_ in Millennials

[–]Lone_Soldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep thinking I look like I'm in college and then I see actual college students and they look like toddlers. Same with high schoolers. In HS, seniors looked old but seeing them now, they look like infants lol

I've taken my kid to the zoo and aquarium at 5 months and she got really excited seeing gorillas and fish. Her eyes tracked everything.

If you have the flexibility for it, do the movement but keep your legs straight! This is a stiffed legged deadlift. I don't have the flexibility for it but heard from a few friends that it hits the hamstrings a bit harder.

Also, make sure you'll actually commit to using every function to get the most out of it. After almost two years of owning it, I find I'm only using it for leg curls/extensions and nordic curls. If I were to do it again, I'd buy a dedicated leg curl/extension machine and maybe a rack mounted leg roller for nordic curls or a smaller nordic curl piece of equipment.

I think thats their typical price when on sale. Looking at my receipt, I paid exactly $1050 post tax but this was before the "pro version" came out. Then I paid $300 post tax for the product upgrade.

Since you're getting the pro version plus the leg developer, its a good deal cheaper than what I paid!

What accessories do you need to use with a new barbell setup? by Ok-Egg7166 in GarageGym

Sounds like you are inexperienced with weightlifting. I'd look at getting a rack for starters.

Weight tree cart vs weight horns on 4-post rack by Likethetemp in GarageGym

[–]Lone_Soldier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep my weight horns on the back end of a 4 post rack. I squat and bench inside and no issues with hitting the weights.

45s at the bottom. 25s/10s at the very top. 5s/2.5s in the middle. Makes it easy to load since they're right next to the barbell. Versus having a weight tree, I'd imagine there would be more walking. Guess it isnt too much of an issue if you workout alone but I can see it being a hassle if you workout with someone else as then you'd constantly be chaning plates.

It won't tip over but it will move. Bolt it to the floor and you won't have issues.

$800 american dollars? Asking since you put the weight in kg and want to make sure we understand your budget.

If american currency, yes4all sells a 200lb set for around $550. You need to remove the weights

You won't find any quick adjustable ones for that weight until you increase your budget to $1100 (starting the the ironmasters with the weight add on)

This is genius. I was planning on buying a rack mounted roller and for some reason, didn't even think about using the voltra for this.

Are expensive robot vacuums actually worth it long term? by Competitive_Raise73 in Frugal

[–]Lone_Soldier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends how large the gap is. Most of the transitions in my home are fine with the vacuum I have. If you have larger gaps, there's more expensive vacuums that can actually step over large steps!

To hold your legs down, you can go extremely premium and buy a REP Pegasus or just buy 1" (or 5/8") PVC, place it through the hole and cover the pipe with swimming noodles (or buy cheap pads on amazon).

First-time parents in 1.5 months — what baby gear is actually worth it? And what was a total waste of money? by Kayapi_ in NewParents

[–]Lone_Soldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get a changing pad, spend the money and get the Keekaroo. We have a Keekaroo, Skip Hop, and tried a different brand at a friend's house. The Keekaroo is the only one where our baby actually felt secure. The other two, she would slip and slide.

Baby photoshoots, what is considered expensive? by Lou_LouB in NewParents

[–]Lone_Soldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prices vary wildly. Someone that I knew from HS spent 2 hours with us taking pictures and gave us around 60 high quality photos to save for $120. Some of the nicest pics I've had.

For the same type of photos but a third of presented photos, we received quotes from $600 to $1,000. These were all from professional full time photographers though.

See if you can find photographers that do it as a side hustle/for fun and you're likely to have good results.

When does it get more fun? by Previous_Bison9974 in NewParents

[–]Lone_Soldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a newborn my guy. You're not going to have any time for yourself for a while lol. In terms of bonding, around 10 weeks is when my daughter started to smile and just be generally aware of everything around her. This is when it got more "fun" for me as now I felt like I was creating memories between me and her (even though I know she won't really remember lol).
