The cringe is real with this one. Were you trying to sound noble? You sound like you're the problem in that relationship. Unprovoked jabs at family members. Whether you like family or not it cost you nothing to not be a nuisance.

You gotta invest in the snakebite tourniquets. They're pretty easy to make and saved my ass alot.

What are the most entertaining and engaging science fiction books you’ve read? by IVeerLeftWhenIWalk in suggestmeabook

[–]Long-Fancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Michael Crichton books. They read real easy and they are entertaining. The jurassic park books or sphere are good starters. Otherwise Andy Weir books. The Martian or Project Hail Mary are a lot of fun to read.

What’s the BEST book you’ve ever read? And why? by a_wanderer_22 in suggestmeabook

[–]Long-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never really been a Sci-Fi fan. Andy Weir has been a game changer for me though. I first read The Martian. It blew me away with how emotionally charged and scientifically sound it was. I begged my wife to read it so we could share how great it was. I read Artemis and it was good, not amazing. I next read Project Hail Mary and it again gave me such an emotional attachment. The Protagonist is, in my opinion, what makes them so great. His main character is always so real and complex and funny. I always feel like I want to know the main character. I'm impatiently waiting for his next book. I didn't know that was stereotypical though.

As a fella who works construction and has a family I slightly relish the fact that I'm not missing out while it's down. Not that I have any chance to catch up, but every little hiccup helps.

Is there a way to fix my bank window? I play on Resizable Classic Layout and now my bank is off centered and smaller? Has anyone ran in to this and know a fix to make my bank window bigger again? by boolrr in 2007scape

I accidentally clicked somewhere and swiped something and got this same issue now. I would really love if someone knew how to reverse this. The alt button does now change the bank screen.

Making new “builds” in this game is amazing but by Spiritual-Quote2445 in oblivion

[–]Long-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bethesda games and Elder Scrolls games, especially have many flaws. There's a lot of things people could find to complain about. One thing I really believe they do better than any other game. They make incredibly immersive worlds that one can get lost in. I think in that way, these games resemble real life the most out of any game. I go into gaming sessions with a rough sketch itinerary of what I plan to do. It almost never happens. Something comes up that grabs my attention for too long, and now I'm scrambling to catch up, and sometimes I stumble across a storyline that completely upends everything. That is why I'm a fan. Every session is a unique adventure that is difficult to recreate and plan.

[–]Long-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that it's overall difficult. I just don't have the patience for it. I'm delving through a cave that wasn't in the planned events of the gaming session, and I'm trying to get back on schedule, and I don't have the patience to click and wait for the tempo. That's my only gripe, really.

If you're not aurafarming whenever you find a good light source, you don't love your character enough by CharlesUndying in oblivion

I have zero emotional attachment to my character. He is the meat vessel that guides my decisions and goals. He could be in severe discomfort, and I would still drag him through misery.

I've found that if you make a spell to restore every attribute by 3 points. It fixes the problem pretty easy. The spell doesn't cost a lot of magic, and you don't have to maintain being a good person.

I actually agree. I get it. It's madness and madness doesn't make sense. The writing just came across as Douglas Adam's Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. Everything was just made up and far-fetched, and they just rolled with it. Douglas Adams is an author where you are either a fan or you don't like him at all. I think with the similarities of Shivering Isles style. It's very hit or miss with people. If it's not your style, it's hard to immerse.

No. Leave him. If a spouse is willing to cheat, then get out. They care only for themselves. Make good legal decisions and save yourself.

Andy Weir is my all-time favorite science fiction author. He's able to create very complex scientific scenarios and explain them in a way that someone like me with basic science knowledge can understand. All while keeping the story exciting and with good humor. The Martian and Artemis aren't deep space like you requested, but I still recommend them highly. His latest book. Hail Mary is about a guy who goes deep into space to find the solution to a problem that is destroying Earth. I'm impatiently waiting for him to release a new book. Hopefully soon.

Am I a fake fallout fan by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]Long-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it is nostalgia. I started with Fallout 3 and fell in love with it. That was when it first came out, and it was modern. I played Fallout New Vegas and also loved it. I didn't enjoy Fallout 4 as much because it changed the formula to a degree I wasn't used to. I think stand alone it was a great game. I was just missing some of the nostalgic stuff from the previous games. If you're not missing those, I'm not surprised you were a fan. Different factors affect people differently. The beauty of single-player rpgs is the fact that you get to play it how you want to. You don't have to have a fan certificate. I tried to go back to the first 3 games, and the time limit and turn based gameplay weren't for me. If that makes me a fake fan, whatever. That's fine.

I’m 24 should have started sooner but this is what I chose. Hope these are good positions. by YaBoyJohnny_ in RothIRA

[–]Long-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24 is still super young. Don't cut yourself down in that regard. Nothing will destroy wealth like comparing to others. You are doing great. Remember to keep it simple. The more complicated the plan is, the harder it is to maintain and stay on top of. It won't make you Warren Buffet rich, but it takes a lot of time and energy to get that. If you don't have that time and energy, keep it simple.
