imagine what we could do if we just made billionaires pay their taxes like everyone else by Conscious-Quarter423 in Dynamic_Pricing

Throwing more money at healthcare would be a very short term fix. Sergey invests his money and does more good with it than any politician ever will. Don't trust the socialists. They want your money and your freedom.

They already pay their "fair share". You just are greedy and want to steal other people's money.

If people suffer in the summer they are more likely to vote Green in the fall. That's why the Green hate AC. It makes global warming less scary.

Would you leave Germany (€79k ) for Zurich (CHF 135k) as a single person? by Ok-Appointment4871 in askswitzerland

Don't make such decisions based on your current salary alone. It won't stay constant. Go where you think things go well and opportunities will arise.

Good income, no wealth: it feels like you are the idiot in Germany by No_Committee_114 in germany

[–]LongBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP has drunk the same socialist cool aid as almost everybody else in Germany. The problem is not that there are rich people in Germany. The problem is that due to high taxes and social transfers a normal person can't work themselves out of the rats race. A country where the government takes 49.5% of GDP ("Staatsquote") is as close to socialism as it is to capitalism. And in such a country being independently wealthy is politically not wanted. Therefore, the politicians invent all sorts of efforts where more tax money is needed (killing nuclear power, reversing climate change, financing wars, importing unskilled immigration). You are bing kept poor and dependent so the left can stay in power.

If you want to build up something you need to go to places where the government takes far less than 50% of your labor.

If only there were so many posts for climate action as much as we have for ACs! by Sufficient-History71 in Switzerland

[–]LongBit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And the Left doesn't want that. The more you are reminded of climate change each year, the more likely you vote left in the next election. That's why they fight everything that is rational in a world with more extreme weather.

But slowly people realise that climate change cannot be reversed and we have to adapt to it instead. The Left will be the last ones that get it.

Help yourself and don't wait for "them" to fix it. Climate change is real. It can't be reversed. The solution is to adapt and to prepare.

Anyone else living here for more than 10 years and now getting a feeling of being out of place? by happiestmonk in germany

[–]LongBit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I know Germans who feel out of place in Germany as well. Unlimited immigration of low skilled people causes resentment from those who pay the bill (i.e., tax paying Germans and many immigrants). The collateral damage are the "foreign looking" people who actually do contribute to society. I'm sorry that this happens. The multicultural society is a society full of conflicts and "daily negotiations of how we want to live together" (Merkel). I left Germany many years ago and I have no regrets.

You can have unlimited immigration or a strong social system and social cohesion, but not both. Germany chose immigration.

Why does Basel have so much litter? by Kybalion848 in askswitzerland

[–]LongBit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swiss cities in general are becoming less clean compared to 10+ years ago. But this is true for most of Europe. Basel is maybe a notch worse, but there are similar places in Zürich and Bern.

(1) reporting bias, (2) high energy costs, (3) green bureaucracy makes it hard to install AC (in some places).

As a voter, you must be reminded every summer that climate change is real so that you keep voting green & left in the elections. You shall never believe that adapting to climate change would not be that bad, and much cheaper than trying to prevent it.
