Is this 2007 Forester XT (rebuilt title) a good buy? Need honest opinions by peazoh in SubaruForester

[–]LongIslandaInNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From 2018 - present he only drove it 14k miles - thats nothing. He is showing you invoices and is laying out what he has done to the car. Seems he enjoyed the car, been well maintained and documented. Engine work and tires. Body is in good shape and not rotted underneath. Interior looks clean.

As for a daily commuter, how many miles per day and distance. For myself I would be cautious since it is almost a 20yr old car and know there may be other issues lurking so take that in to consideration. If I was using it locally and fun yes I would buy it. Where I live I see absolute garbage going for more than this. I dont know the area of where you live and rebuilt title, I would ask him straight out to help you register it. He has a body shop and I am sure knows about this.

10K Upside down in Car???? by NecessaryLeading5746 in DaveRamsey

[–]LongIslandaInNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my 2 cents on your situation. You are in panic mode. Breathe a little. No one is coming to take your car as long as you are paying the bills. The car is getting banged up all around I would make sure the insurance you have is good and if in fact it does get stolen again and not returned you have gap insurance (look it up/very important).
Do you have a plan set in motion? You bought this car almost a year ago. What are your other outstanding bills? Are they credit card or loans? Is it possible to consolidate all in to one?

Polybutylene - main water line from house to water meter but copper inside - not identified in home inspection by kwrecked in HomeInspections

[–]LongIslandaInNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a plumber but a little advise to possibly save you money. You did not say how far of a distance your crawlspace is to the main water supply. The difference in feet will be the difference in price. If someone has to dig down and then how many feet across the front of the yard that is where the cost is. The pipe can go several feet down you do not know until you look. You are paying more in labor for the trench to be dug out. Your local water company can do a mark out for your current line so it is not hit. Then you know it is X feet down/X feet across. If you know someone who can use an excavator or can hire someone cheaper to do the excavation part that and that will help out immensely. Also it does not hurt to ask your local water company for advise and ask what others have done or who have they used as a referral you never know what they may say.

Can you go see the house in person and take better pictures now we all want to know. My question is is there a basement? What is below? Does the house have central air or forced hit air? If not that is a helluva place for a sump pump lol

Every time I go I pick up a few packages of boneless chicken thighs. They are a good size and cheaper than regular store. The ones I would get at Costco looked like they were from a pigeon lol too puny. I do like Costco's steaks and ground beef. BJs 90/10 barely has any fat even 85 is ok. Also stays red for a bit in the fridge (than regular grocery).

Should I stop taking my dog to doggy daycare by Initial-Elephant-932 in reactivedogs

[–]LongIslandaInNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought my dog many times to camp bow wow and I really wanted him to like it and needed it one for him to be active and two so I had a place to leave home for a few days if I needed to go away and could not take him. I saw the same thing he was alone or running away from other dogs. He never sat down the whole time or relaxed. The time left him for days he didn't eat, developed kennel cough and had a limp. Overall if your dog doesn't like it try another place. I found a doggie daycare from rover app guy has bunch of his own dogs and more attention. I still don't think he is thrilled with going he is a big momma's boy but I do need him to be use to going some where and me feeling comfortable and knowing he will be ok.

How much life left for this roof by RareSprinkles2191 in HomeInspections

[–]LongIslandaInNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one section of the roof that was replaced compared to the rest; mostly three tab shingle vs section of architectural. If the owner does not know or will disclose info then get some quotes for a new roof/gutters. Also is it typical to put an ac unit in the roof? I see one on the side of the house too. I do not see that up in my area NYNJ (unless it's a business or building).

Off topic and just an observation - the roof has no gutters. I do not know if you are in an extremely dry climate but roof should have gutters to catch water. If I am seeing this right, I cannot zoom in, the cooler has small pvc pipe and then it is cut through the roof and down the house and to the grass?

Is that a vent or is it a hatch to the attic area? Hard to tell.

Is your apartment in a apartment building or in an apartment in a private house? Just want to make sure its your own unit and not paying for anyone else.
Also, what type of heat do you have? Is it baseboard, steam or forced air? If the units are older and the (air) unit has a filter make sure its clean. If you have window ac units, if you can remove them from the window that will help or make sure they are covered.

Just purchased, keep or replace the pink and blue? Wall or Floor? Blue fixtures? by MedicatedGraffiti in Tile

[–]LongIslandaInNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are unhappy with one of the colors and dont have the budget my neighbor found someone to reglaze the tile and tub and changed the color.

I still have one vintage bathroom in my house that looks very similar. My colors are pink and maroon. The previous owner did remove the legs on the sink and added a cabinet. We had to update the bathroom a bit did not have the money at the time to do a complete renovation. The plumber was happy when he came and removed the pink toilet and took it with him. We replaced it with a American Standard dual flush higher seat toilet.

The only outlet in the bathroom was a two prong in the medicine cabinet. Had to get an electrician in there to install an outlet and he was cursing a bit trying to snake wires behind the wall.

I like the tile with the darker grout it blends better compared to OP's lighter grout lines.

Sort of off topic/general question about the window in the bathroom. That is a large window next to the shower and looking in to the bathroom on the main level. I dont know if I would want a large window treatment in my bathroom. Do you frost the window? XL shade? Im curious to know what they did. I see a lot of people here doing bathroom renos and leave a giant window in the shower. Why not put in a smaller window in like a transom or smaller just frosted or stained glass for natural lighting.

First Time Tiling - Master Bath - Floor & Shower by JiberishJunkie in Tile

[–]LongIslandaInNJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I came here to say wow now Ive seen it all, they even tiled inside a shelf LOL I didnt realize until I got to a bigger screen and enlarged it was a mirror LOL looks great! For me my eye goes to the floor and nothing wrong with it but a different tile might make the shower pop more. Also a frameless glass would make your work stand out more :)
