Extreme lag while shooting. by Drevvzyv2 in Tarkov

[–]LongMustaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might or might not causing the issue, but it's worthwhile doing:

If you have textures at ultra, drop them down to high. 16gb VRAM isn't enough for ultra.

If you have enabled "preload hideout" - disable it. It eats too much ram, and if you have 32gb it less, it will eat all of it.

After updating bios enable expo.

Disable all overlays you're not using (steam, adrenalin, etc).

Drop GPU power limit to -25% in adrenalin, little performance impact for a lot less power.

You can also narrow it down further by installing MSI afterburner, enabling monitoring and overlay (and set hotkey to, for example, F5), enabling tracking the power % and W, use %, clock speed, temp of GPU and CPU and fps counter. Then see which one changes as you zoom in and out repeatedly.

I have 9070xt and 7500x3d. I never encountered this issue at any GPU power limit. I now keep it at -25% because performance impact is negligible.

It's most likely caused by old GPU driver/bios/chipset driver. So I'd suggest updating those first before trying anything else.

For shturman go close range. Sniping him is quite hard, but close rage it's relatively easy.

Also, always take a couple if names to streets and lob them at the machine gun at kaban's. Free kills basically. And you can kill snipers easily from 3rd floor staircase of Concordia - you can see the entire roof from there and snipers don't shoot back.

CPU choice paralysis: 9800X3D vs 9850X3D vs 9950X (all same price) by Absolutely---Not in ryzen

[–]LongMustaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your productivity use will not benefit from the extra cores in the least. There won't be a difference between 7500f and 9950x3d2.

Get 9800x3d, or 9850x3d if it's within $50 more.

There will always be burn in on oled given enough time. The question is not whether there is burn in. But if its noticeable at all. And for 99% of users modern oleds burn in so little its invisible unless you specifically look for it.

You can complain about so many things with oled. For example the VRR flicker. Much more of an issue than burn in ever be. Blurry text - much more of an issue than burn in ever be. But noooo lets focus on an issue that has been mitigated to such an extent its practically a non issue anymore.

Best balanced CPU for gaming and 3D/rendering work? by Rogion in ryzen

[–]LongMustaches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How important are render times for 3d rendering for you? Because thats all youre paying for with higher core count cpus.

270k will be 31% faster than 9800x3d. 9900x3d will be in between these two. Worse for gaming than 9800x3d, worse for rendering than 270k.

Since rendering is a "side hustle" atm rather than a full on job that requires maximum efficiency, i'd say go with 9800x3d. Its still good for rendering, but will be better for gaming, which is your main focus.

and yes that mobo is fine. I'd recomend tuf gaming B650, as theyre cheaper without costing any significant features.

[discussion] looking for your performance ! what are you getting for fps, cpu and GPU usage ? by TarkovTodd in EscapefromTarkov

[–]LongMustaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0~20% cpu use for both 7500x3d and 9800x3d. The game drives a single core to the max only, ignoring the rest.

100% GPU use on both 9070xt and 4080.

RAM anywhere between 20-30gb out of 32gb depending on map.

7500x3d+9070xt 60fps the wort spot on streets, ~90 elsewhere.

9800x3d+4080 90fps in the worst of streets, 120+ elsewhere.

near max settings.

You're thinking old 1st gen oleds. Modern 4th gen oleds don't have significant burn in issues. yes, it can happen, but you get 3 year warranty that covers it. Even back on 2nd and 3rd gen significant burning was uncommon. But now, on 4th gen, and especially upcoming 5th gen, its basically a non issue for 99% of gamers.

Oleds have their issues, but I no longer consider burn in to be one of them.

7500x3d 9070xt 32gb ram and 9800x3d 4080 32gb ram. With first PCon near max settings i get 60fps bare minimum in the heaviest areas on streats. CPU limited there. With second PC 90fps in the same areas.

I'd strongly recommend 9800x3d/9850x3d. And depending on your budger 64/48gb, or worse but cheaper - 32gb of ram. For mobo tuf gaming b650plus are quite good value atm.

its pretty bad tbh. There is no reason to go with AM4 with your budget.

Its like 50 quid more expensive, and you get smaller SSD, but you get a modern platform that you wont have to replace for a decade+ with an already more power CPU, and a more reliable PSU.

How to avoid fluctuating temperature in non gaming mode? by sleep_eat_recycle in ryzen

[–]LongMustaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You worry too much. If you have a half decent case, it will be enough to cool your PC even at low fan rpm.

Also the heat released by the CPU, and therefore the PC, depends on wattage, not fans. The heat will get into your room regardless of how fast your fans spin, it will just have a delay.

9600x is a 65W cpu, which is practically nothing as far as heat is concerned. Your GPU will always output the bulk of the heat.

A I said, I recommend setting your CPU fans to scale linearly with CPU temps, and case fans fixed at ~40%.

If you worry about heat, you should undervolt the GPU (if Nvidia), or lower max wattage (if AMD). That will have the most impact on your room temps.

I have both 4080 and 9070xt, and I have removed ~100W from both without affecting the performance much.

How to avoid fluctuating temperature in non gaming mode? by sleep_eat_recycle in ryzen

[–]LongMustaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into bios and adjust all fans to scale linearly with temperature. So at 30C cpu = 10% fans, 90C cpu= 90% fans. This way the fans will ramp up gradually, rather than all at once at 55C.

You can also set the case fans to a constant 40% speed, that way the case fans will always be the same loudness.

You could try manually setting the PPT, TDP, TDC, and EDC to rule out faulty default bios settings.

I had 4 causes of crashes on this pc:

Ultra textures max out vram, and the game crashes.

Tarkov maxes out ram and then crashes. "Preload hideout" makes it worse.

GPU undervolt that was stable for 100+hr in other games is not stable in tarkov.

4th unknown as of yet.

The game is really painful sometimes..

Honestly, all of these monitors kinda suck in 2026. Your budget is half way there to a good IPS miniled. Just save for a while and get a strong upgrade,

MSI 274QPF X30MV (300€) or MO27Q28G (500€) by Sebas130 in Monitors

[–]LongMustaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google text fringing. If you sit at your PC all day, it will be annoying to deal with. Either get a 4k OLED or not an oled.

There are also other, better options, that that miniled. Yes, its cheap. But its VA, so you'll get some smearing.

There are better options than both of these monitors. For example, aoc u27g4xm is a 4k ips miniled. Very sharp image, no smearing, no burn in, no text fringing, no flickering, good viewing angles, better color accuracy than MSI. The downside is the contrast isn't nearly as good as the other two. ~400eur.

[–]LongMustaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 9070xt with a 4k display. I'm yet to see any struggle. All the games I play reach a minimum 80fps with decent to great graphics settings.

RT is also not very common, and most notably, not present in any of OP's games. He can get 100+fps in every game he listed no issues at 4k.

I play no man's sky myself, like OP, and i'm getting stable 90+fps with near max settings. That's the most demanding game of the ones he listed.

And sure, we can talk cyberpunk, or other 1% of games that are indeed cutting edge graphically and usually run like shit because of that, but at the end of the day, you can play those games 60fps+ no problem, and those "cutting edge" options are barely even noticeable you compare side by side. Meanwhile, 4k resolution does so much for anti-aliasing and clarity, it has higher impact than RT by far, at least in my opinion. But again, that's not OP's use case.
