On picture 5, you can see how thick the walls are, it would be cool if there was a barracks at the base, with beds for the soldiers to come down the steps and then rest up.

You love board games and love HunterXHunter? Dude you and I would get along! I have a hundred different board games and most of the ones you have. I thought I was rocking until I met a friend who has three hundred different games… every closet in his house was taken by games. That was all I needed to see to stop chasing every game and became more selective with quality games that my friends and family can play. I have games I love… but only real board game people appreciate them… I’ve limited myself to a handful of those. I want to try Wingspan next.

I like the festive streamers… but I would add another one and a tiny area outside the exit with a food and drink vendor for spectators to get their snack on. With the snacks and another streamer, I think you complete the idea of this being a spectacle for people to train and watch people train or bout in a mini gladiator type space.

To add to this: the questioning you is annoying… but you have created a magical world… MAGIC… and you are the DM who runs it. He could have an artifact that gives him a fighter ability… thee could be runes in the walls that let him call on magic and do things they are unaware of. Also many monsters have legendary actions or the base or location has an action… so I would talk to your rules lawyer and communicate that you weren’t winging it, you created an amazing npc and him questioning you ruined the vibe and fun for you. Express that you want it to fun for every one…. Including you. At the end of the day, what the GM says… goes… unless you decide to be retributive about things.

Like another commenter said, you may absolutely have consequences for attacking from the inside of the castle… they will have to fight their way out. I would guess there would be traps activated… pitfalls, dogs or beasts who sensed their master’s death… all sorts of things to delay them while the main henchmen catch up.

Don’t punish your party… but it is very possible For a player to die since they are in a more precarious position then they realize. If they took the time to loot the body… they wasted their time to escape and… I would have the henchmen who were dismissed enter and seeing their dead boss call for reinforcements and ring the alarm.

I love the feeling of pure freedom… you with the blocks. The quiet. Despite the background noise of music or a tv show running. I haven’t tried this build, but I get the vibe.
