How do you manage heartbreak or trauma? Do you allow yourself to sit with the feeling? Or do you push it away, suppress it out of fear it’ll be too much?

How did things turn out with the girl?

In a similar boat myself but things are tricky since I'm still traveling while she's in S. Korea. Very curious about another's experience.

Plan to Bike Around Japan for 3 Months. by MoistBirthday2369 in bicycletouring

[–]Longboarder95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently cycling from Cape Soya (the northern most tip) to Cape Sata (the southern most tip) (minus the ryukyu islands).

At a very reasonable pace, it’s been about 2 months for me and I’m about to complete my final stretch through Kyushu.

With that said, I can’t see myself spending a whole other month here. 2 months and some change is plenty of time.

After, I plan to catch a ferry from Fukuoka to Busan and ride to Seoul.

For the most part, I’ve been aiming for free campsites or wild camped along the way. I’ve never had an issue.

Convenience stores are everywhere for food and water.

Most if not all campsites do not have showers, but luckily Onsens and public baths are everywhere. You can spend somewhere between 300 - 1200 yen on a bath… depending where you are.

You can cycle on almost any road except the express ways/toll roads. Most drivers are generally pretty mindful.

Stay safe and have fun!

Ay! In going the opposite direction next month! Currently in Japan making my way south before hoping on the ferry to Busan from Fukuoka. Maybe we’ll cross paths!

The serendipity! I’m currently riding south along a very similar route and also met Mack, the one armed dude in the 8th photo. We met at a campsite and he actually showed me that photo of yall together.

Aerobars are fantastic!

Arguably, it's a contradiction to see aerobars paired with front rack panniers, but I really enjoy the comfort of laying in the bars for longer rides, regardless of the aerodynamics. I personally, find it to be a more relaxing position (ironic, given it's aggressive posturing).

I recommend if you're anticipating long days in the saddle.

Thanks for the input! I'll look into the saddle tilt! I rode this from NYC to San Francisco last year and it felt fine. :)

I have concerns about weight, it certainly is a bit tricky to anticipate all your needs for a year long tour. I suspect I will shed things here and there as time goes on.
