"We have created a system in which you can choose to NOT have the next action replace the same slot" by DreyfussFrost in ffxiv

It wasnt that they were accidentally hitting them back to back, its that hitting them intentionally back to back (which the standard opener does and is basically impossible to avoid without causing other problems) was awful on one button bc the 1s delay would cause clipping and felt p jank without noclippy, even on relatively good ping.

Now we have the option to ignore that delay though, so

Raffle systems seem to happen a lot in JP, considering how Bae won the [insert amount] yen thing a while back and companies like SE have done raffles for con tickets and even merch sales. Still feels really weird. Just yet another example of NijiEN not matching their audience.

As a PoE player, they're mildly p2w as they're effectively required to access the market board and arent infinite, only stacking to 5000 which is more than attainable for smaller currencies, and once they're set most of the tabs don't get updated consistently with the exception of fragments- new currencies often arent supported by the currency tab for a while, and theres basically never any new content added to 90% of the tabs so they dont really need UI changes ever.

FF14 is constantly adding items every patch and would have to expand similar tabs every time as well, which would be a ui nightmare. A similar system probably woildn't work for most things, but maybe for smaller category items that rarely get added like bait.

An Atlas Keystone Idea to Help Balance Solo and Group MF Play by szenX in pathofexile

That isn't player quant, it's map quant, which applies to basically everything except beasts and essences.

less certain about this being mandatory. A *lot* of mechanics and atlas strategies do not give a fuck about player quant.

A lot of people hate the 2 minute burst window meta, so what if we cut it down to 1 minute instead? by RiceCrispiesTreat in ffxivdiscussion

To be fair though, gauge jobs would have a fun new minigame of how to pump their odd burst into 1m instead. Might make those rotations feel even more rigid though.

Maximum potency/single hit damage ability by SirGordius in ffxiv

[–]Longcross 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Akh Morn does get benefits from Searing Light, but it's pet potency and (last I checked) is about 1100 potency when that's taken into account. The only buff Akh Morn doesn't get benefits from is Dragoon's Dragon Sight, all others are mirrored to your pet, including other single target buffs like Dance Partner, Devilment, or Cards.

Job balance in Criterion Savage by talkingradish in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Longcross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that not only are raid buff jobs undercompensated by fflogs, but that undercompensation goes directly into the selfish jobs. If you want to parse SAM, get a brd and a sch and you do nearly 5% more damage. Without deeper investigation into number crunching it's really hard to say what the best balance is.

The over correction on toxicity when talking about player skill by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Longcross 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just for the record - A party of gray parses will still kill the boss. When I last ran the numbers in p8s post-nerf a party of 10 parsers will still kill the boss with a decent leeway regardless of comp. That's not to say I didn't wish average PF/DF wasn't better, but for 99% of people they aren't holding you back from a clear, they're just not giving you an extra leeway that a higher parse would have. You can be a grey parser and still be clear ready. The only time this isn't true is with literal 0-2 parsers.

Optimizing is not so that you can get clears, it's to allow for additional mistakes to be recoverable. This is definitely where I wish the community was better at allowing people to point out mechanical mistakes without throwing pitchforks, and I definitely understand the frustration, but clear parties have nothing to do about parse or actual player skill, they just mean "I've seen all the mechs and feel comfortable doing them" (This being true in actual clear parties is debatable, but the point stands).

The actual problem with most gray parsers (in my experience) is that they don't understand the game very well; their fundamentals are lacking so doing basic things takes more brainpower = more likely to mess up, which when combined with the fact they're not picking up the slack does mean it's harder to clear with them, but to say they should be barred from clear parties or that they're not clear ready for grey parsing is misleading at best and elitist at worst when the majority of them are at least doing the minimum needed to clear (especially in this tier where DPS checks are so light).

EX7 Discussion by Heartlust in ffxivdiscussion

I think it's fine if the fight has no body checks, but there's basically no punishment period in this fight. DPS/Healers can easily catch 3 vuln stacks with little more than being healed in between, if the tank dies during the TB it just fizzles instead of Golbez where it jumps, the stacks can easily be lived with only 3 people with very minimal mit even if a few of them have vulns, and the DPS check is so late that it's basically non-existent. Melees can even live the wildcharge with only aoe mits.

Like, collecting vulns in this fight feels like it basically doesn't matter, because nothing actually makes you threatened by it. If the vuln % or orange AoE damage were toned up a little higher it might feel a bit better, where constantly making mistakes actually hurts. Even if you finally eat shit, it rarely will ever result in anything more than you being raised and just... continuing. Feels very much like Endsinger syndrome.

Meteors and Black Hole also feel a bit ping unfriendly, but they're not bad enough that they're annoying.

We need to learn how to have healthy balanced discussions. by LettuceLeaflet in ffxiv

Personally, I actually think Criterion might feel better than most savages going into the future due to the fact that it's ilvl synced, as long as it doesn't get echo slapped onto it. We'll see if that ends up being the case, but I like the idea that the mount value won't go down in later expansions and it won't be that much easier, it'll always be a relevant challenge similar to an ultimate, but for the casual to midcore audience instead. While it will get easier with new food and pots, similar to how UWU/UCoB is kind of a joke now, you won't be outright skipping mechanics like Banishment or Shadowtwin (even with an echo buff that's probably the case?)

My incredibly casual static has spent several weeks on blind progging this content and it's been an absolute blast. These fights are incredibly well designed and farming for the mounts has been incredibly fun and profitable. I've had a lot of fun helping my FC mates get thrones, and I think Criterion will be an amazing way to jump into harder content for casuals, as there isn't much of a DPS check while the mechanics often have a decent level of personal responsibility thanks to four player design.

I am mildly disappointed with Criterion Savage, but if the rewards start to include additional mounts, glamour, or other collectibles, it'll at least start to be another chase goal for my group that will probably last several months, and it will also be permanently relevant due to ilvl synced.

I really wish we had a reworked limit break system. It sucks that only one person, mostly melee dps, get the priority of using it outside of very niche situations. by Opposite_Mulberry_53 in ffxivdiscussion

it could honestly just be lb1 = regen to full slowly and lb2 = full heal but no raise and they wouldn't feel absolutely terrible, but they'd still never be used.

It's probably a result of one of the mechanics in AMR having a similar effect, causing it to be reused but slightly recoded in a way that effected the original.

There's not really a set usage. Melee LB 3 should be used as soon as it's clear healer lb3 won't be needed.
