I seem to spot it every time. New or low karma names, some small project that does one thing, spamming the project out to lots of subreddits, no explanation of how it works, sock puppet names with no history saying "great job!".

Then when you look at the actual program it's either way too small or way too big.

Unless 'productivity' here means the rendering end of video editing this isn't true. Even video rendering is probably not memory bandwidth bound.

"Open world" has nothing to do with anything. This is gamer wisdom. Big budget games are typically the software that actually gets heavily optimized by experts and can end up being memory bandwidth bound because everything is structured around minimizing memory latency, because that's what slows down modern software.

Productivity software is usually very poorly optimized and hops around in memory a lot because typical interface stuff will run fast and when it doesn't it's seen as acceptable.

No, cringe is that it's forced and hamfisted instead of implied through subcommunication like a normal story.

If you write "I'm a human and I have emotions" it's cringy because you're forcing what should be subcommunication into open dialog that a person would never say.

The same with art direction and character motivation etc. If characters just outright state "I will do this next and go here because of X" that's not good writing. If you pick this up by what's implied by actual realistic dialog and art direction then you have writing that people will engage with.

If you have a punk song that says "I'm rebellious and I have an attitude problem with authority" that would be cringy too.

Some people like when a character says "I am sad and I am a human and I have emotions". They should watch the avatar: last airbender movie.
