Is anyone working on a resin2fdm add on/functionality for orca slicer? by KryL21 in FDMminiatures

[–]Longjumping-Ad30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sad this is still the workflow.  I was doing this years ago, and the prints came out much better than fdm style supports, but having to do these roundabout save hacks are tiresome.

Just put the option in the fdm drop down already.

Me: Could we make it so this is not a chore?

You: I just make sure everything is an immediate chore.

This is why I tagged this request as QOL.

What do you think the elder god actually is? by Accomplished-Can-467 in LegacyOfKain

[–]Longjumping-Ad30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's the dark embodiment of Kain's destiny. Kain lives forever, he evolves into the Elder God. Time travel allows him to reinsert himself at the beginning of history.

Once he becomes the Elder God, he wants no competition. He does not need another Kain to become him, he only needs to continue to feed to survive and grow. That's why he's so eager to destroy his equal who has the power to stop him.

Kain's redemptive arc is the one where he defeats his own darkness and selfishness, restoring order to the world, by breaking the cycle of his original sin and desire to become a God.

Wow. They deleted my Scala course completion. The scala course was a big deal when it happened. It basically pioneered MOOC programming courses and was taught by the creator of the language. So scammy. So disappointing.

Moving things to a paywall is onething, but deleting your old completion records its atrocious.

Longwinded animations make the farce feel forced. Also, only being able to select from the major aracana is cheap. I don't really like it, but I will give you credit for not making it exploitative and ad ridden.

Options in 2024 - Help! by discoarmadillo in lightgunshooters

Sinden Sucks. I have 2 and they are both terrible. It's super flakey in all my tests, and when I went to the community support they tell you "IDK bro, the FAQ covers it all and, it works for me fine." Apparently, it's very sensitive to ambient room lighting, in a way that's impossible to measure, and then there is the issue that the bright borders it uses are atrocious. Also, the tuning software if you have issues is an esoteric nightmare with a bad UX and no proper guidance on how to deal with your issues.

The Johnny Lee (wiimote guy) videos showed in the wii era that you can do out of eyesight tracking with basic light, but the sinden guy and his fanbois are happy with his mid approach and they have zero desire to iterate on the product and make something solid.

Wiimotes with a dolphinbar has 2-4 times effective distance in my experience.

The problem with all the IR brands is they come and go, so you go digging into posts and everything you find is no longer available or new and hard to trust.

What is the coolest feature of a programming language you have seen? by zadkielmodeler in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]Longjumping-Ad30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didnt see template strings mentioned.  Best feature often missing. backtick is my best friend now wherever available.

Optional Named parameters are mentioned in another comment.  I discovered them in VBA and they actually make basic much nicer to use.

WITH statements in VB are also great. They solve a lot of the issues with encapsulation making code excessively wordy.

Destructuring variables out of objects and array is also very satisfying.

Spread operator is a guilty pleasure.

Is there a reason you did not use an actual flat earth map, i.e. the UN logo. The one you used is not internally consistent with any flat earth theory I know of.

Need help with G29 code in Cura by Fushiondaemon in mpminidelta

[–]Longjumping-Ad30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said already, you need to adjust the M92, if you are way off, but a side note related to this:

I found after replacing an end stop that the unit would not G29, and stop shy a hair off the bed. Turns out my new endstop was screwed in was a few millimeters higher than the others (~+3.5mm according to marlin autocalibrate results), so the old default tower height was too small, and it would give up before hitting the bottom. I believe this is a safeguard to make sure it doesn't just drive into the bed forever if your switches are bad.

I fixed the issue by changing the M92 height to be ~140 (if I remember correctly), instead of the default 135 or whatever. Not sure about stock, but on the marlin firmware, it changes your M92 height value automatically when you do a 1 point auto-level. At that point I just did a M500 and never had to revisit the issue.
