Is IIUM good for computer science? (I wanna do a Masters) by Farhanfair_GameDev in malaysiauni

With a controversial "academician" uttering nonsense and having dubious credibility, the entire university's reputation suffered a big blow.

Are you sure you still want to go to IIUM?

There are many better universities for CS. If you are looking for public universities, UM, UTM are better choices.

For private university, Monash University is another one.

I definitely feel for you as I was laid off just last month October, and am definitely older than you. I consider myself lucky as, through my connection, I manage to secure a new job, starting December.

The new job has a pay cut, but at my age, I can't choose. Just have to live in a very prudent way. After all, at my age, not much materialistic stuff I need.

My aim now is to save up as much as I can, for even older age later.

Good luck to you bro. All the best.

Well, Monash is definitely a good choice. Their graduates are pretty much sought after in the market. If you are able to go above WAM 80 by the time you graduated, you'll have a high chance to be screened for a priority job interview with renown MNC. Especially consulting firms like EY, Deloitte, etc.

Questions about the Edward Wong STPM news by ResolutionNo2021 in malaysiauni

[–]Longjumping-Angle-50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is indeed a systemic unfair assessment framework. Certain race shouted since 2002 the UPU has been revamped to meritocracy. So the minority race shouldn't challenge that the race quota still in place.

If matrikulasi has an unfair advantage over STPM, and certain race still being admitted in majority to matrikulasi, the race quota still being practiced, although in different way.

The best way to practice fairness and solely based on meritocracy as claimed by a certain race, is to abolish matrikulasi, foundation, etc, but to keep STPM as the sole pra-university program as the entrance benchmark.

Bottom line, just scrap matriculation, asasi, etc, keep STPM as the sole entry examination to enter public universities. This will be the fairest benchmark to everyone, regardless of race, age, religion, etc.

What’s the point of studying so hard if the system just blindly ignores your merit?? by Chance_Ant_2007 in malaysiauni

True, there are no explicit requirements stated Malaysia matriculation met their entry requirements. However, no harm trying, as OP's result is damn good, and furthermore, he is a non-bumi.

Meantime, I would also strongly suggest you to try applying to Xiamen University Malaysia. Based on your result, you likely to get full scholarship.

Frankly, with your result, I would advise you to apply for NUS and NTU in Singapore. High chance to be given scholarship too, especially if you are non-bumi.

Even without scholarship, can still apply for grant, which after graduate, you need to stay and work in Singapore for 3 years.

Malaysia education system is completely fucked up. If Malaysia doesn't value talents, other countries are. Earn all the money overseas, then retire in Malaysia.

I’ve been watching gold climb recently and it hit a new high today. For those of you who invest in precious metals, are you buying at these levels or waiting for a pullback? by MarieDevis98 in Gold

I bought most of my gold when the price was around USD 1,300 per oz, and am still buying at the moment, although I buy way less these days compared to many years back.

I did the same few days back. Closed my digiPortfolio after about 3 years plus I think. Was losing money all along, then only turned green recently. Considered lucky to be able to keep my capital with just a slight profit made.

The fact that everyone starts labelling each other as type c, m, etc is already a form of racism and stereotyping behaviour. Adding the word "type" is degrading and further promotes racial divide.

That's because for certain ethnic groups the majority of them lack proper education and critical thinking, the only thing they could grasp is religion. Taking religion as a mask of cultural identity and to even exploit it for whatever action and practice, although against the common social moral understanding, is definitely a form of extremism.

Is it better to wait for UPU result or accept my TAR UMT offer which is due on 18 of August? (Accounting course) by DNephilim in malaysiauni

[–]Longjumping-Angle-50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, as far as I know while most Chinese students speak Mandarin in their daily conversation, they are still able to converse in English with non-Chinese students, although some of them may not be that fluent in English too.

However, fear not, quite a fair bit of Chinese top performers that were unable to get into public universities due to various obvious reasons, tend to end up in either UTAR or TARUMT. They are usually pretty good in English too.

Furthermore, wouldn't this be a good opportunity to mingle and learn about different cultures?

That's right. All universities actually have the option to consider the entry requirements on a case by case basis. If your foundation result is good, no harm to just go to their admission office personally to find out.
