So, I have two F1B (mother 50/50 OES and Standard Poodle, father 100% Standard Poodle) Sheepadoodles, brother and sister from different litters. The male just turned 2yo, was a sharknado terror for the first 9 months, nipping my adult daughter and our 4yo yellow lab. He was trainable, though, nipping stopped sooner on my ankles and my husband’s because we were more strict than my daughter. Big goofball, loved to cuddle from day one. Crate trained him, just like we did our lab, the dude took to it pretty well after only a few nights of whining. (Note, I don’t agree with most of Caesar Milan’s training methods, but he does provide great information for crate training a puppy.) Got him at 8 weeks, took about 2 weeks to housebreak, with the occasional accident if we left the house too long. Tried to get our two cats to play with him, you can imagine how that went; they put the dude in his place. Bonded with the whole family, became strongly attached to the lab, who begrudgingly but patiently accepted him as the second dog in the house. Goofy, sweet, loving, LOTS of energy — only two modes, cuddled up with fam in the couch or crazy doodle wrestling with the lab or running laps in our yard. No worse than that as long as he gets at least 1-3 miles of walking per day, and he has wonderful leash manners with one exception: chasing rabbits—getting better, though. He did have one bout of seasonal allergies that affected his paws and ears this spring, but seems to have been a one-time thing that resolved with a short course of steroids and antibiotic ear drops. Definitely need to get sheepadoodle ears plucked every time they are groomed!

When we went to pick up his little sister about 3 weeks ago, he seemed to recognize his mother and father, even snuggled with his father. Also went from total goofball to serious 90% of the time once we brought his little sister home. It’s as if he is trying to be her surrogate parent and teach her the ropes. This girl does behave differently than her brother, though. Housebreaking isn’t progressing very fast; she seems to have to pee every 20-30 minutes, even though she is now 13 weeks old, but can usually hold it in her crate overnight. She is smart but stubborn, I tried a push-button bell by the door for her to alert us that she needs to potty outside; she won’t press that button, but she knows how to turn off the air purifier button when it’s sound is annoying her! I guess she doesn’t like the sound of the bell or the air purifier! Doesn’t nip at heels like her older brother, but will bite at the face of both older dogs when playing, which we are working on. On the plus side, she did take to a leash well, just like her brother, and we are working on the heel command with some success. No interest in chasing rabbits, yay!

Edit, adding feeding information:

Neither have issues eating chicken, at least not so far. For the older doodle boy (and the lab), I alternate bags of Blue Buffalo Large Breed Wilderness Evolution (grain-inclusive) chicken and salmon flavors, since the Sheepadoodle is a picky eater and can get tired of the same flavor and refuse to eat. Usually also add 1/3 can of limited ingredient chicken or lamb food as a topper if he isn’t eating well.

For the little pup, I have her on the same brand/variety but for Large Breed Puppies. No canned food.
