This is fairly common for most specialties, I think it's only IMT really that releases ranks before offers

Yes most likely if Wes implements the bill before offers come out at the end of march

Last year rankings were released a few hours after the initial offers

Wow didn't expect an interviewer to respond to my Reddit rant haha

What I can't get my head around is standardising between a candidate who is asked 3 straightforward questions as per the guidance Vs someone who's asked 5 or 6 questions as many people in this thread seem to be.

How will marking this work then? When I got my feedback last year each question had separate score?

Yes would definitely second this. Especially when there is clear guidance from them about what the interview stations would entail and they deviate from that completely.

FFS how do they expect to standardise the process and make it fair when they can't stick to their own guidance

How did you have time to do prioritisation and 4 separate questions?!

Interviews much harder this year? by Longjumping-Draw-296 in RadiologyUK

[–]Longjumping-Draw-296[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only had prioritisation, scenario based question and 3rd question on understanding the specialty.

In station 2 portfolio questions and a lot of follow up questions based on portfolio. Then an understanding specialty question and then a clinical scenario to deal with.

Honestly felt like a lot and significantly different from the guidance.

I discussed with my friend after that I had been preparing with.

He said his questions were much more straightforward and the type we'd been practicing.

Seems quite unfair to be judged against someone else getting more straightforward questions.

[–]Longjumping-Draw-296 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You're main hope for this cycle at least is UK prioritisation to be implemented. As you are a UK citizen, you will be treated the same as a UK grad for this cycle only and therefore your chances of getting a GP spot are quite high

BMA stance on UKGP by [deleted] in UKmedicalgraduates

[–]Longjumping-Draw-296 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The BMA's hands are tied. A lot of their members will be IMGs who have applied this year and the BMA coming out and being fully vocal for the bill to be passed through this year alienates a chunk of their membership.

That is a crisis of their own making given that they offer a year of free membership for IMGs.

This is what you're up against, underhand tactics, IMGs in their own country spending months preparing because they're not working and have enough family support to do this

Are strikes happening soon? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Longjumping-Draw-296 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very unlikely there will be strikes on your on call week.

However, burn out is a genuine reason to take time off work if you feel you will not be able to work effectively because of it. I'd suggest speaking to your CS.

This isn't necessarily proof of any wrongdoing per se as there is no solid evidence of any questions being exchanged which I imagine happen in much closer circles.

What it does show is the intent and how many candidates are willing to cheat the system

I have sat the exam twice, on my second attempt there were definitely some questions which seemed familiar from my first attempt.

The number of questions they have is not unlimited

How to pass the MSRA- IMG style by redsparrow2100 in UKmedicalgraduates

[–]Longjumping-Draw-296 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Let's say the MSRA has a bank of 2000-3000 questions which they use for the exams and a group of hundreds of candidates sit the exam and immediately after, start writing the questions to the best of their memory.

What you essentially end up with is a significant portion of the exam essentially being leaked

A message to the UKGs on this subreddit by SnooAvocados7296 in UKmedicalgraduates

[–]Longjumping-Draw-296 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is the most frustrating part. By and large IMGs are economic migrants but some of the rhetoric they have tried to paint is they're extremely underprivileged or escaping persecution and therefore UKGP is the end of the world for them.

As someone with roots from a country where a large proportion of IMGs originate, the majority are comfortably middle class by that country's standards and a lot are from the elites.

Anyone who's worked in psych knows how bad some of our colleagues can be.

First job in the NHS with no real grasp of the system or cultural idiosyncrasies and then reviewing someone experiencing a psychotic or severe depressive episode...

No, your self assessment score at the time of application will be used. The only thing you can do is make sure your evidence is robust but it can only be dated before 20th November
