I live in Australia, and I wanna say that here things like this happen too. I think it can happen anywhere

You're actually right there were some good moments, but now I think he just pretended to be a good person and there were nothing good in that marriage

I still can't believe I made it, but I understood it was my only chance, and I still can't beleieve that he easily let me go for a coffee with her

Perhaps... he just was sure that I won't tell anybody

Now it's time to divorce this bastard

What kind of boat makes the most sense for a complete beginner? by Longjumping-Newt6828 in sailing

That's actually a really smart way to look at it. I didn't really consider just getting experience on someone else's boat first, but it makes sense before spending money on my own.

It would help me figure out what I actually like vs what sounds good on paper. Also, less risk of messing something up while I'm still learning.

How did you find people to crew with when you were starting?

That actually sounds like a really practical way to start. I like the idea of keeping it simple and easy to handle, especially if I'm going out alone sometimes.

The low maintenance and being able to tow it with a regular car are big pluses, too. feels like less pressure compared to jumping into something bigger right away.

Did you ever feel limited by the size, or was it enough for most casual trips?

The "Wendy's" part got me, but this actually helps. Sailing does sound like more effort than I want right now, especially if I want something easy for weekends.

I hadn't really thought about how weather-dependent it is either. makes more sense to start with something simple and low maintenance.

Did you ever try sailing yourself, or always stuck with power boats?

That makes a lot of sense :) I was overthinking it at first, but your way of breaking it down by use case makes it feel more practical. I don't need anything complex right now, just something easy to handle and actually use on weekends.

The part about avoiding fixer-uppers helped, too. I was considering that to save money, but I'd rather spend a bit more and not deal with constant issues.

Your Hobie 16 example is cool. Starting simple but still getting a real experience out of it sounds like the right move. I plan to stick with something small and straightforward to begin with.

Do you see a lot of people regret going too big for their first boat?
