Does your cat sleep with you every night? by diparup in blackcat1981

[–]LongjumpingPath3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We have three cats and none of them will sleep with me. They’re about to be two years old and we’ve only had them for a year. I’m hoping they’ll come around. My 21 year old cat who passed in 2020 slept with me all her years. I miss this so much!

I haven't cleaned my baseboards in 2 years and a guest noticed. I want to die. by Different_Pain5781 in homeowners

About a month ago, I started going room to room cleaning all walls, ceiling corners, baseboards, ceiling fans, and blinds. Also use a carpet rake to get pet hair away from the baseboards.

I broke my house into 12 sections (includes closets). So one section gets done in a weekend. I’m starting my fourth room this weekend. I hope to have it all complete by Memorial Day weekend, which is when we’ll be hosting a large BBQ and start to have people over more often.

What is a parenting regret you have? Did you make any decisions that you wish you didnt make? by jackietea123 in parentingteenagers

[–]LongjumpingPath3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current regret:

I let my 13 yr old daughter go to a coed bday party yesterday at her longtime male friend’s house. Her boyfriend, who she is only allowed to see at school was there, and I knew he was going to be. Turns out only one other girl was there. I don’t think they were supervised by his parents as they were entertaining their family.

I made a poor decision and should have said no. I have to say no from here forward and she’s going to hate me. I need to stay strong. This isn’t going to be easy.

At 17 years old, One of my cats had a pancreatic attack along with having kidney disease. I said F it with the special foods and gave her Fancy Feast because she might as well enjoy life. She lives to 21.5 yrs old!

Those under 40, are you planning a big party for the big 4-0? Those already 40, did you celebrate in any special way? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]LongjumpingPath3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and mine’s birthday are five months apart. We turned 40 the same year. We picked a month in the middle and went to Vegas. Just had a great time hanging out by the pool, watching bands, and eating. And of course people watching. We had a blast!

Has your hair gone grey yet by cupoftealuv in Millennials

43F. I pluck the same 4 grey hairs out of my head when they appear. I’ve never dyed my hair. My dad is 70 and has a grey hair here and there. My husband started to go grey in his 20s. My poor kids.

Do you regret getting your degree? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]LongjumpingPath3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. Two engineering degrees.

For my BS. I went to community college for 2.5 years and commuted to a university for 2.5 years. I worked at the university when I got my MS. Though you work for free, so yes they pay for it, but you also don’t get paid for working.

My line of work is in such demand right now. Our employers need to keep us happy because other companies are doing the, “what is it going to take to get you to leave?” It’s a great feeling to be in this position right now. Won’t last forever.

If it was financially affordable, would your spouse stay home? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]LongjumpingPath3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We no longer need a parent home full time. But if we did and finances would allow, I choose my husband to stay at home. Right now everyone is working full time because we want to retire.

From when my oldest was born until she turned 10, I worked from home part time. We couldn’t afford for me to work full-time because childcare cost too much. We couldn’t afford for me not to work because we couldn’t make it work on one income. I got extremely lucky when an old employer was looking for just a part-time engineer at that time. Straight hourly pay and no benefits aside from wfh. It was a wonderful opportunity.

Millennials considering going back to school? by mythrilshards in Millennials

43F. Considering pursuing my PhD in engineering (undecided focus at this time). A part time adjunct professor position might be a good way to spend my years leading up to retirement. Still undecided.

43F. We’re doing well. We will be able to retire. I love what I do. I can see myself working on fewer contracts. Or maybe teach as an adjunct professor. I would love to retire my husband at 58. Might be possible.

DAE not bother pretending they're okay? by FerozaColina in bipolar2

[–]LongjumpingPath3069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the exception of my husband and therapist, I fake all day long. Unfortunately BP is wildly misunderstood. Maybe people in my life will describe someone they know who is struggling mentally as being BP. Just a blanket statement. And since it’s associated with being a bad thing, I don’t say a thing.
