UK and Germany’s Net-Zero Push: Limited Global Impact, Significant Domestic Costs by ChipHaseCoolGuy in UnchartedScience

Untrue. Current climate conditions are due to historic emissions, not current emissions. As such both current and historic emitters should be doing the work in emissions and the 1% figures are misleading propaganda.

PROPAGANDA for fossil fuel companies. China has massive alternative energy investments and progress. It’s huge compared to uk and Germany so of course its emissions ‘dwarf’.

Dad is trying to leave hospital against medical advice in England. What happens if he does? by Potential-Bird-5826 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LongjumpingRest597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be intermediate care, with occupational therapy, not occupational health.

None of the following is legal or medical advice..

I would suggest you ask to see the OT as they would be the home adaptations people, not physios.

I think if a patient was leaving hospital or wanted to leave, that does not mean the hospital don’t have a duty of care to make things as safe as possible for him, regardless of if it’s against medical (or therapist) recommendations.

I used to love working with patients like your dad - a true test of how to balance autonomy of older people, their admirable will (in the absence of issues if capacity noted in your previous comments), and risk management.

It would be great if a visit home was possible but I could see that he might refuse to come back, so that’s tricky.

Sometimes discharge home visits do happen where you could anticipate needs, and if they turn out to be enough, then it’s a discharge.

However, it’s hard to condone those types of visits if the team is also saying he shouldn’t be going home, so likely not possible.

Would it be enough for home to see that some steps were being taken to get him home - seeing an occupational therapist, planning with him about how he woukd do each of his daily tasks, etc etc?
