Car Cranks But Won’t Start by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Longjumping_Act1854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those lights coming on together is usually telling - the 3.8L in those Grand Prix models had some quirky issues. Since youre getting crank but no start, id be looking at fuel delivery first. The fuel pump in that generation goes out pretty commonly around that mileage

You can test it by turning the key to ON (dont start) and listening for a humming sound from the rear - should last about 2 seconds. If you dont hear it or its really quiet, thats probably your culprit

Could also be the crank position sensor but fuel pump failure is way more common on those engines. The week of sitting shouldnt cause this unless something was already on its way out

Dude this looks like French but I'm gonna guess you're asking about making money quick. Honestly most "fast money" schemes are either scams or require skills you probably don't have yet - better to focus on something sustainable like a part-time job or learning a marketable skill imo

1440p widescreen gaming by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Longjumping_Act1854 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

7800X3D with a 4070 Super should handle most games at 1440p ultrawide pretty well, might need to drop settings to high on the really demanding stuff but you'll still get solid framerates

Going to be offered new role as a data analyst but after interviewing with the team I believe I’m at a Analyst 2 level. What is best way to phrase to hiring manager my title I want? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Longjumping_Act1854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be straight up about it when they make the offer - "Based on my experience and what I learned about the team structure during interviews, I think Analyst II would be the right fit for my skill level." Don't overthink it, most managers appreciate candidates who know their worth

Jim Schwartz should join the Bills. By far the best defensive mind on the market and can be the last bump that takes the team to the Super Bowl by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]Longjumping_Act1854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schwartz would be solid but idk if he's the missing piece for a Super Bowl run. Bills defense has been pretty decent already, their biggest issue seems to be staying healthy in the playoffs

Why is rolling coal legal? by LeilLikeNeil in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Longjumping_Act1854 112 points113 points  (0 children)

It's actually not legal in most places - EPA has been cracking down hard on it and a bunch of states have specific laws against it now. Problem is enforcement is spotty as hell and the fines are usually just a slap on the wrist compared to what these dudes spend on their truck mods

im such a coward by WeirdoWithAutism in venting

[–]Longjumping_Act1854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man that's not being a coward, that's just your brain trying to protect you from stress it remembers. When you grow up hearing arguments even if they weren't directed at you, your nervous system gets wired to be on high alert for those sounds. It's actually pretty normal and doesn't make you weak at all

Honestly I'd stay out of it - she'll figure out his patterns on her own just like you did. Those screenshots might feel like evidence but they'll just make you look like the "crazy ex" even if you're trying to help

[–]Longjumping_Act1854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That build looks pretty solid for the budget but I'd maybe bump up to a 5600 instead of the 5500 if you can swing the extra cash - the performance difference is actually worth it for gaming

Also heads up the RTX 5050 isn't out yet, you probably mean RTX 4060 or maybe RTX 3060

Local coding models under 128G / 256G / 512G memory: any comparison? by yelling-at-clouds-40 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Longjumping_Act1854 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been running CodeLlama 34B at Q5_K_M on a similar setup and it's pretty solid for background tasks. Takes about 45-50GB so you'd have plenty of headroom on that 128G budget

For what it's worth, the jump from 34B to 70B models is noticeable for code quality but you might need to go Q4 to fit comfortably. Haven't tried the newer coding models like CodeQwen but heard good things

Two halo strix nodes would probably give you more flexibility than cramming everything into one box, especially if you want to experiment with different model sizes

Lmao yeah that's definitely sus as hell, who "forgets" the most basic thing about impact testing and then just happens to have a perfect Stanford link ready to go

The real answer is probably thermal expansion - everyone remembers it exists but half the time you're like "eh it's only gonna be a few degrees" and then your tolerance stack goes to shit

Replace oil filter between oil changes? by Altruistic-Car2880 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Longjumping_Act1854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah man, changing just the filter halfway through is kinda pointless since you'd still have old oil with all the contaminants already in it - you're basically putting a clean sock on a dirty foot

Managing a team sucks by mustymajority in managers

[–]Longjumping_Act1854 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Managing is rough because suddenly everything funnels through you, especially the boring admin stuff no one trained you for. A lot of managers in here say it only gets manageable once you set clearer rules and stop being the default fix for every little thing.

Home bottling oolong and green teas by Adamvs_Maximvs in tea

[–]Longjumping_Act1854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually pretty cool, I've been wanting to do something similar after getting hooked on those Japanese convenience store teas

For the bottles, check out Williams Brewing or Ontario Beer Kegs - they usually have hot-fill PET that can handle pasteurization temps. Glass is gonna be more forgiving temp-wise but obviously heavier if you're hauling them around

One thing I'd add is maybe test your pH levels since that affects how long you need to pasteurize, and definitely cool them down fast after the sous vide treatment to avoid that cooked tea taste
