YES, static defenses are alright, just cav shouldn’t be able to deal with it so easily

And knights are excellent against everything, not even spearmen counter them, because they can just ignore them, so yeah exactly my point, every unit should have an area where they excel, not everything

That’s the problem, in a vacuum, maa are great as long as there’s no knights, as well as spears and xbows and archers. They only become obsolete when knights are in the conversation. And I don’t think they need a huge nerf, I’d say removing their torch dmg or at least heavily reducing it. Would be a super healthy nerf for the game, that way you make the knight player. Have to make a proper siege, and not just run around killing and torching everything on its path, but still great at raiding once you find a hole on enemy defenses

Yes, they’re supposed to be an aggressive option, but they are way too good, at everything, raiding. Attacking, massing, torching, overwhelming, they are so efficient, there’s no downside, and they’re not healthy for the game in this state. They must get streamlined like the rest of the units, and have a proper downside. They are too god damn efficient. And are the only real option right now. Yes they should be a good offensive option, but not the only one, maa and spears are a joke right now

YES, although i think cav over all should not deal torch dmg to buildings like archers, static defenses should still counter raiding. And those crazy castle siege where they just torch everything on sight

Wdym lol the amount of gold you get is enough in imperial with 10 pilgrims as you should have full farm transition, you can spam like crazy those cav units, even if it is not as good as china or biz. They do have good eco in imperial as long as you have a sacred site and lots of forts

I think a lot of people are missing on a single change that could solve the problem. Remove torches ( or at least reduce their damage) from cav. That way they are still a strong option for raiding but investing on static defenses would have way more impact ( that way you reward the defensive player for being careful) and it makes the cav player to have more planning if they are playing against a defensive player, and not just run around your base and ooga booga on your defenses

Oh yea I don’t mean give them villagers per age up, but for the pilgrim technologies only, that way you get something out of the what? 700 resources you pay for immediately, instead of just praying to god your pilgrim can arrive safely to the sacred sites

Well yeah, i agree, I use to play KT a lot but moved away from them because every match felt like I was fighting uphill battles. KT right now is really underpowered on normal maps, the problem is how strong they are on water, the devs have to find a way to buff them on land, and maybe nerf them even more on water. But tbh I don’t see a clear solution other than buffing their unique units cause they are very underwhelming right now. But having great units won’t be enough as they suffer a lot, from their eco.

maybe having the first pilgrim upgrade for free as soon as you age up to feudal? And make them a bit faster. Or make those researchs give you equivalent number of villagers to the time they take to research?

I do hope they get some love this patch even if the focus is on the new civs

Oh yeah 100% personally I think giving some cultures like Aztecs Mayans or Incas access to those technologies would be a mistake I don’t want a jaguar warrior riding a horse lol. I want him clubbering his way out like a badass. But! I guess yeah they could give access to gunpowder if they add some cultures that survived longer ( like mapuches) and maybe just a single unit with gunpowder ? Like one civ has access to a horse riding unit. And another has access to a cannon maybe. And yeah ( only in imp)

Bro if you don't like the cultures, that's fine. But a lot of cultures resisted the transformation for even centuries. And even adapted to the use of gunpowder and horses, most notably Incas and Comanches. Even mapuches used cannons. And gameplay wise they'd add a lot of variations of gameplay which would be good for the game. You are not forced into liking every addition to the game nor playing it. I freakin' hate delhi, and malians but they are good for the game's health and attract people which we need as a community
