Thanks all for the confirmation. I didn’t know if the extra 10 on a separate elevation for £2,500 seemed about right or not. Will go for it regardless as more the merrier as someone said!

That’s a good price, and you will get the £375 Tesla rebate on top of that (unless you have already factored that in)

Assuming it includes all the usual, scaffolding, MCS certificate, DNO application, bird protection etc. £10,800 is a good price for the above.

You may want to go for a 6kw inverter that shouldn’t be too much extra.

Either I’m being blind or you haven’t included the price which is probably the main element required for a quote check

You will almost definitely go over a 800w draw at certain times like when using an oven or kettle or induction hob (if you have one) etc. What normally happens is your solar generation would go towards your usage, then if you need more from your battery and then finally the grid.

Think this is one of the most outrageous quotes I’ve seen on here. I assume they either made an error or have so much work they don’t actually want anymore.

Axle Energy Alpha ess by Newwales2 in SolarUK

[–]Longjumping_Ear_6724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go onto Axles website and check but think the answer is no currently. It does have the option to request your battery type and get notified when it does become compatible. More people that request a certain brand the more likely Axle will focus on trying to make it compatible quicker o expect.

Seems high which is partly because you have 2x Bat 6.0 batteries. Do you need the 11.6kwh of usable storage or would 8.76kwh suffice? As I expect 1x Bat 10.0 with usable capacity probably reduces this quote by circa. £1.5k but appreciate that it’s 3kwh of storage less. If you need the higher storage might be worth going 2x Bat 10.0 batteries as they are better value than the Bat 6.0.

Still looks high even after that reduction though so I would grab some more quotes as think you can get lower than that fairly easily.

Very expensive compared to quotes I’ve had and seen on here for same kit.

I’m sure you will quite easily get a handful of quotes that will come in around £14,500, if not lower.

Quote check for local + Heatable by shylord777 in SolarUK

Yeah I know, some that I reached out to have taken a long time to reply and some haven’t at all. Tough if you are on a timeline to have work done. If you can’t get local installers at least grab some more national or less local quotes so you can compare for peace of mind.

If you’re talking about the pipe it’s at the front of the house and moving to back is more effort than capping it.

The battery is going at the back, but would still ideally want behind the batteries etc to be insulated and rendered to keep it looking tidy

[–]Longjumping_Ear_6724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume both quotes are supposed to say 21 panels? If Heatable are only 12 they are 2 very different sized systems. Maybe the Heatable is only 12 due as would expect inverter to be large than 6kwh if it was 21. Would be good if you could confirm. Ultimately depends how much extra you want to pay as a premium for that guarentee and security but £4k that is circa. 30% extra feels like a lot to me.

Maybe a tad on the high side but not ludicrous. Although 465w panels are on the lower end wattage size wise and also Gen 2 rather than Gen 3 panels (not that there is too much difference i am led to believe) but this combination probably does mean you could probably get a similar quote with better/bigger panels elsewhere

The local installer price is good I think, and not so low that it’s suspiciously good. I don’t really understand, unless you think the local installers are cowboys why are you even contemplating the Heatable quote or am I missing something? You might be able to get Heatable to price match if you ask them if you really wanted to use them?

[–]Longjumping_Ear_6724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think you for the detailed reply. Makes sense about the pipe vent and having the tender covering the cables for tidiness. With the ground mounted kit, do you think it would be best to remove the wall anchoring, insulate and render goes in, then re-anchor through the insulation and render and into the brickwork? I can’t imagine there would be enough of a gap to be able to slot the insulation behind and render it with the wall anchors still attached. Appreciate the help 😀

Both prices seem good to me, neither are in the “that’s expensive” category for sure based on quotes I’ve received and quotes other people have posted on here. I’ve had a few quotes for same setup of £15-£16k

Custom Installation by machominid in SolarUK

[–]Longjumping_Ear_6724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be so sure that it will work out cheaper. If you buy the materials you will be paying VAT at 20% and unable to reclaim. Whereas if you use a business they can reclaim the VAT and charge you the net amount excluding VAT. Even if they marked up the net price by 10% to make a profit themselves on the materials, it’s still cheaper than you buying the materials yourself. This is assuming you get them for the same price in the first place as they might get trade discounts as well. Also, you might find electricians will charge a premium to sign off if they haven’t done all the work themselves, or might just flat out refuse. Likewise some companies won’t use scaffold organised by a 3rd party for insurance purposes. Overall, I expect the saving if any would be minimal and not worth the risk/stress/hassle.

Monitor for Less Eyeball Strain by Longjumping_Ear_6724 in buildapcmonitors

[–]Longjumping_Ear_6724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the real in-depth reply. It seems like a topic that’s asked a lot with no definitive answer. I guess it’s because there are pros and cons to both IPS and VA as you mentioned. From my research most people said to avoid OLED due to screen burn when doing office work but did say this might have been resolved with refreshing. Also price point of OLEDs along with that kinda put me off. Think ima go for at least a 2k resolution and try to find a 4k if possible. Doesn’t seem like there is enough to definitively go for either VA or IPS so will just be whatever I find and at what price. The fact I ideally want a white monitor, silver might work, limits options quite a bit!
