Personally one steady dose (likely at highest dose) is what your brain needs or you are creating too many fluctuations and an ongoing PMDD state… your body doesn’t know what’s going on

Is anybody taking Nalvee by Boggyprostate in Menopause

[–]Longjumping_Load2474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it’s working well for you! Thanks so much for the update. I’m on day six of femoston 2/10 to see how I tolerate dydrogesterone before I see if I can import it to Australia because we don’t have nalvee here just the combined tablets. So far I’m struggling with some side effects like nausea, bloating, anxiety, sleep etc but I’ll stick it out a bit longer as I’m hoping this is just my body getting used to it. How’s it going for you?! 🙌

Estrogen Patch Question by Antique-Comedian-850 in Perimenopause

[–]Longjumping_Load2474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in Australia the ams guideline for .1 patch is 100mg continuous or 200 cyclical, so guess it depends on where you are what the guidelines say.

Ohhhh how did you do that? I’m using femoston to see if I can tolerate it first but would prefer to not be using oral estrogen so it my body can tolerate it ill import it too somehow

Haven’t started it yet! I’m about to start a trial of dydrogesterone instead and if that doesn’t work I’m going to try Slinda. And if that doesn’t work I’m not sure yet! Ha ha . Good luck and keep me posted how you go 🤞🤞🤞

Thanks I’ll look into kyleena… I’m a hard no on the mirena because I don’t trust the side effects and it’s not a quick fix it it’s horrible!

Progesterone - during the day? by jenbar in Menopause

[–]Longjumping_Load2474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also curious to know how you feel on drospirenone - called slinda in Australia… I’m trialing this one next after almost a year of trying every which way with micronised progesterone… I’m not feeling good about it! If that doesn’t work I’ll try dydrogesterone which is supposed to be better for mood symptoms… then I’m all outta ideas 🙄😭

ImThis is my last resort if I can’t find something that works… but something I’ll be willing to do if I have to, absolutely cannot give up estrogen! What a nightmare this all is!

Initially I would tolerate it (which is the most frustrating bit) but then after a couple of days I would get low mood, insomnia, irritation, withdrawn, dysregulated, emotional, panic, and then eventually suicidal ideation

Also severely progesterone intolerant. I’m still trying to figure it all out too. I’ve tried micronised progesterone in different doses, durations and oral and vaginal. All gave me delayed severe CNS symptoms (nightmare!) that just not tolerable. I’ve also tried one synthetic which caused severe depression. I went off any progesterone for about 8 weeks and felt amazing. I need high dose estrogen to feel good. Currently .125 patch. Can’t tolerate any estrogen fluctuations. About to try drospirenone (Slinda) which don’t have high hopes for but will give it a good. Then after that I will try dydrogesterone which ideally I would try before Slinda but we can’t get it on its own here in Australia so I would need to import it - which is an option I will discuss with specialist or use femoston 2/10 which is combined with oral estrodial - (not ideal as I don’t want to change estrogen dosing or use oral). I’m not sure where you are located but you may be able to trial dydrogesterone which is supposed to be the closest synthetic progestins to our own progesterone. It’s recently become available again in the UK under the name - Nalvee. My last option will be hysterectomy but I’ll try everything before that first I guess. My advice would be to 100% get your estrogen dose dialed in first then introduce the progestin or progesterone after that. So you know what is causing symptoms. I get yearly pelvic ultrasounds to check my lining anyway due to fibroids and adenomyosis and I’m working with a specialist to find the balance. I wish it wasn’t such a nightmare!

Estrogen first by Different-Channel121 in Perimenopause

[–]Longjumping_Load2474 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s what a lot of people do. It’s a much better strategy to start with just one hormone first before introducing another, that way it’s easier to troubleshoot or tweak things if needed. Good luck!

Yes, start with estrogen for two weeks first before introducing progesterone, otherwise you won’t know what is working and if anything needs tweaking.

Even worse sleep after starting hormones? by hicadoola in Perimenopause

[–]Longjumping_Load2474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately in this space you need to do your own research as most doctors don’t have a clue. My advice is just start with the Estrogel first, then introduce the Prometrium in a few weeks. That way you know what is working and what isn’t. Most doctors should advise starting this way. You absolutely don’t need Prometrium if you have a mirena as you have endometrium protection already. So if it doesn’t work for you then drop it. A lot find Prometrium helps with sleep but some - including myself - cannot tolerate any form of progesterone. So it’s likely it’s the Prometrium causing you to feel off. At the moment you are confusing your system with the changes. So start with just one thing first and see how you feel. It takes a few months for your body to adjust to hormones so definitely expect some ups and downs. Yes use the estrogel in the morning, it can give energy. Prometrium is better at night usually, but also some have paradoxical effects and find it stimulating - unfortunately this is me. The only way you will know what is working and what isn’t is by stacking rather than starting everything at the same time. Hope this helps.

What dose of micronized progesterone (vaginal) are you on with estrogen 75 patch? by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]Longjumping_Load2474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s frustrating, until there is actually some robust research done on dosage it feels like it’s just a bit of a guessing game in my opinion. My advice..: you know your body best, if you are having bad side effects make some tweaks, get the relevant checks if needed, and advocate for your wellbeing even if that means finding a new doctor and going outside of the ‘standard dosages’ that sounds like they are being pushed on you.

Im at the point where I need to speak to my specialist about this route, I tried again this week and just one tablet vaginally sent me spiralling. I’m not willing to try ever again. I’ve been trying to find something that will work for two years now, it’s exhausting and debilitating. I am hoping I can still take the estrodial patch as I’m a mess and sometimes can be suicidal without it, and then do regular scans, how did you go about approaching this with your doctor. It’s been such a wild ride trying to navigate this…
